I really liked that he took in consideration disabled people, mothers and others in this video because a lot of the time we forget that depending on who we are the time management can be completely different or take longer for something smaller.

I like the rule of doubling the time you think a task might take to make a more realistic plan but it also makes me wonder how Parkinson’s Law comes into play then too. How do you decipher when you’ve given yourself enough realistic time or simply filled an overcorrection?

    • @sonja5058

    • @enveritas4948

Depends on your goals but having more time lets you decide when something is "done". Having more time might let you refine something and make it better than it wouold have been. Also, adjust your estimate for similar tasks over time if you're always out.

I wouldn't worry about the law, it was meant as satire after all, its holding you back from taking the first step. If you finish early make a note so if you face a similar issue in the future you can compare and decide if the outcome will be the same. Id you think you spent too much time, you can make a note of that too. Also, if you finish early, you can move on to the next task.

"If you do happen to over commit you have to deliver".
yep! been there done that and it was worth it. I think the one thing I would add to this video is make sure what you are committing to do are your priorities and not somebody else's. it's amazing how much of our time goes to other peoples asks when we haven't even gotten our priorities done yet.

Some days I am an absolute fiend checking things off my to-do list and other days I can barely get anything done because it’s a high pain day or a high symptom day. As a former addict myself, I love what you're doing, and even though I've been clean for 5 years, got married, and had kids; I feel like I've been in a rut for the last year or so and not moving forward. I just recently discovered your channel and it seems to really be helping me get a grip on my aspirations and where I want to go in life. This video in particular seems very helpful given that 90% of my day is spent either working, picking up after my 2 year old, and of course spending time with the wife. I see this as the time management equivalent to a Dave Ramsey budget, that dude helped me get my finances together and when I put it all on paper I realized that I had about $300 of surplus money each month that I could be investing or saving instead of getting take out or buying new toys (tools, car mods, ect.). I hope that I can use the tips in this video to do something similar and be able to carve out a good hour or two after work to have time to do the things I want that could help me move forward in life

For me, living with a chronic illness and being a procrastinator, your advice on productivity definitely works for me too. I can't work for 16 hours a day but I can work within my own limits, I just need to have my priorities right and factor in rest, how much I can do on a good day, and how much on a bad. I also need to factor in more flexibility and learn to know my limits. Never promise things that are unrealistic in my situation and learn to say no. Some I do better at nowadays but being a procrastinator I liked the false deadline advice.

Watching this video now knowing that you’ve got a lovely new born is such a heart warming feeling. I’m doing the tripling my time plan thinking “I don’t know what I’m doing so I will just have to accept this takes longer and I will eventually start to do things better”, when you said “just triple your time” it’s such a comfort and encouragement. Thanks heaps ❤️

I just found your channel last week by searching “trash tattoos” on youtube and I LOVED the deep dive in that one, so I checked out other videos, and I love the genuine feel of what you make! all the best!

That was really insightful. Ive heard a few of those messages in different places but you brought it all together and it makes more sense in a system of accountability and action as opposed to random, feel-good anecdotes. Thanks for this video.

i like what you said at the end, the bit about the compromise of work: if you want to do anything that is good, you have to do something that sucks

Yes! I’ve missed your vids. Always give me a boost. Extra bonus, I’m a dad running a small business (about 12 staff) and this video is useful! Much like the majority of your other vids!

i know this video is older and this’ll never be seen but your videos have given me clarity that I can make a change and not just sit here wanting to. buying the book this week, i hope i can take the steps because i know my potential is surmountable but i cannot put it to use.

The fact that you toss kids AND chronic illness is amazing because spoon theory with chronic illness is a thing and having it acknowledged is pretty powerful. Good on you sir
