    Happy Birthday my friend. So your $1100.00 profit turned into what after your 2 mistakes. I've seen your videos and wish there were more of you in this world. I love success stories like yours. I know you don't need me to proud of you but I am. Hope your Birthday turned out great. Happy Birthday

    Actually you were short on base material. After installing the base you check the depth with the string. Then you would know where to add more base in order for your concrete material to fit accurately.

    That's really admirable of you for sharing this. An owner always needs to know every aspect of his business so he doesn't get clipped. I'm not sure you will ever realize how important it is to the people you are mentoring that you are being real. Happy Birthday Bud! Life is short, do something fun in addition to Cardoning. Maybe get your gang on some boards in Florida or something. 29 once. Thanks for sharing!

      shaymoose17 Hey Lay Moose, its the truth aint it? What other basics are missing?
      Like: Too many guys on site. 4 machines on site? Use small machines to dig out driveway not larger skid steer. No expansion joint between driveway and footpath. 3 guys to stay back and broom off ten square yards?
      Get it? No you dont, another novice😊
      Youre talking to a pro concretor with 30 years experience, dude pay respect. I didnt make those types of mistakes even on my very first pour. And your mrs uses the douche bag between clients. You empty them. Now run along.

    Happy Birthday 🎁🎉🎂!
    I would suggest using a level to shoot grades and know you height or depth for ordering concrete. Use 3/4” in a 6” slab with low water to cement ratio which reduces cracking. You can add plastercizer to help increase slump without cracking. Also, no reinforcing steel (rebar) on slab on grade. Good compaction is key. You had good plate compactors. Use water to help increase the compaction. Eliminate rebar and use plastercizer, you can eliminate the concrete pump.

    rebar and strings set up whenever youre doing masonry to make sure its at the correct level everywhere, otherwise you can set up a laser to make sure grade and level is perfect.

    • @johnmacdonough9754
      @johnmacdonough9754 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laser is only going to work if slab is level not sloped unless you use a slope laser and it is one slope. We string line everything and chalk line curbs. We also will mark sub base with paint the difference like (-1) were it is is high or low so we know were to adjust. You Never should be off by more 2-3% of used concrete.

  • @mitchelltam4032
    @mitchelltam4032 ปีที่แล้ว

    I lay pipe but could you take a grade laser measure the top of the slope and bottom, measure length footage and figure out the slope for base. It would be top slope - bottom slope / length x 100 in decimal foot. theres like tables on google or whatever. plug that in your laser and go. Peace bro

    Hey T, that chick should return her diploma. Everyone knows if you do the concrete job, the amount of concrete you order is elementary matter, it's just common sense. And to count how much of it for a slab is basic math. You probably yelled at her, she is traumatized and now she will be nervous every time she will have to do it again. She will spend a lot of time to count, bother you every time to ask you if it's correct and it's going to bother you as well. My opinion is that this chick is done...folded. She should resign, it's not going to work. She will bug you and it's going to annoy you.
    But hands down for...you have learnt something....to cover existing structures (house, garage door etc). I have seen many jobs where they didn't cover it and it's all busted from concrete splashing everywhere

Cheaper to pay for the 1 yard minimum or whatever even if you only need half that than to pay overtime and wait etc etc. If you only need like 3-4 bags to finish a pour that's one thing. Otherwise easier and quicker to just call in another order. Were you at the end of the day or something? I would have just called a truck the next day.
