Small Batch: Carolina Red Flake 2022

Tune in as our Head Blender Jeremy Reeves discusses the 2022 edition of our flagship Small Batch blend: Carolina Red Flake. This year's edition focuses entirely on a single flue-cured grade - TA-20 Red/Orange Virginia Tips - which we've used in a number of special releases recently including 2021's Carolina Red Flake with Perique and Anthology: 1992-2022. Carolina Red Flake 2022, however, is the only blend to feature this unique, 2020-vintage leaf all on its own, and is sure to delight with its nearly 14% sugar content, rich, fruity, and spicy flavor, and serious aging potential. Oh man, it’s so sad that we have none of your tobacco over here in Germany :(
It’s almost only big brand stuff.
Im very glad that I have some tins of the older dunhills stashed away when I bought them 20 years ago, but I also want to try new artisan brands that produce amazing traditional tobacco!

Stuff is strong nic wise. It's spicy and a bit rough but I guess age will take care of that. I bought 12 tins. The one I opened I enjoy most in filter pipes.

I have to admit. When I started smoking a pipe I didn't like C&D blends. The only one I liked was After Hours Flake. The other ones were a bit cigarettey I guess? I think because I was smoking OTC blends like swr , Carter Hall, Edgeworth Ready Rubbed and my favorite Prince Albert. I know they use a lot of topping and casing so it basically hides the "real" burley flavor. I know all burley has some kind of flavoring but anyway, after about ten years of smoking a pipe I really started to appreciate the C&D blends. Now I am a DEVOTED Prince Albert smoker, but Pegasus is starting to steer me towards well,,,,, Pegasus lol. That is a very good blend. I do add a little sweetened black Cavendish to it so I can smoke it in the house. It doesn't do anything to the taste just the room note. Oh, I asked Russ O. From P&C about bringing Tuxedo back from the grave and he said he'd ask. That was a couple years ago. I know you do match blends in a sense, I know they aren't technically match blends but the Tuxedo was a blend from the 1920s to the 1940s I believe it ended. It was just a burley flavored with Chocolate. It was not a Cavendish but I think a cub type cut burley with a chocolate/cocoa essence on it. Do you think that would be something you guys would profit from?

Thanks for this very cool story! We don't have anything quite like Tuxedo, but I wonder if you would enjoy our Chocolate Cavendish.
It is a Burley blend with a cocoa / chocolate top note.

The 2016 edition all had to be returned for me. Had ten tins - didn't order another release. It was a low point - hopefully things have changed.
