Thanks again for the great video.
Some folks recommend driving a few miles before starting the charger - just wondering if you could fit an on/off switch on the 12V signal cable i.e. to turn the charger on/off? I suppose the way that you've set it up you could just use the re-settable fuse?

No problem! Glad it helps. Some of the latest lithium auxiliary batteries can be viewed via blue tooth and you can look at their condition through the battery app (manufacturer depending) Sterling batteries do this. I don't think you will need to worry about an on/off switch as the smart chargers will manage themselves, I have never had an issue with them.
The chargers can also be programmed to meet your individual needs, you can set min/max voltage and all sorts of other features too from memory.

Thanks - awed [looks really expert - you do this for a living?] - thinking of trying to do this - what could possibly go wrong!
    1) Just wondering if you installed anything to tell you how much charge was in the leisure battery --- 0% ---50% ---100%?
    2) I see some people use piggy back fuses i.e. rather than splicing the 12V signal cable. Which slots are already used i.e. which have live when ignitions & vice versa?
    3) Your simple clear video reminds me of this - cheap/simple blade fuse holder - th-cam.com/video/r6-DzqyQoT8/w-d-xo.html

Hi Francis, thanks for the comment 😀
I have also fitted Victron smart chargers (did one for my dads previous VW Transporter) and this had an app via bluetooth that monitored both the vehicle main battery and the auxiliary battery, along with some other great features. Really handy if your not directly in the vehicle either. I didn't fit anything because I use the power for lighting and tool charging which when flat I just run the vehicle. You could get a cheaper digital voltage gauge and wire that into the system so at a glance you could see the current Voltage.
I would just ensure that you use the appropriately rated cable and fuses. You could use the piggy back style fuses, I didn't use this because the fuse board under the seat on the Crafter has a cover on the other side that with this fitted would not allow the cover to be fitted.
I also made another video on connector types for wiring that could be useful to you:

@@TurningSpannerz Thank you for the detailed reply.

Yes, I could probably get by using voltage monitoring.
I've noticed some folks are using a shunt and a small display e.g. if you've 100AMP battery storage then you program that to 100%. I think this type of setup is perhaps £50.

I did the same in my Van, but I installed 3-100@hr lithium batteries. Lead acid batt's way to heavy.

👍 I will definitely look at lithium batteries in the future, I used the lead ones as I had the batteries already.

You wont regret getting one, was a real game changer for me.
