    stating that the vulcan 800s are bulletproof, couldnt be truer words. I had a 2000 Vulcan 800 classic, that i ended up getting hit on, bike was upsidedown in a ditch, in 5th, still running. Its unfortunate but looking back at it now, its kinda funny, (i do the same thing resetting my trip-meter when i fuel up) i filled up about 2 miles prior to where i got hit, and when i was able to get up and get back to my bike to shut it off, the trip-meter had rolled to (If i remember correctly) 320-ish miles. But, back to them being bulletproof, i had that bike sitting in my shed for about a year, waiting to see if i could get around to fixing it, well, i decided not to, as the left side frame rail just above the shifter assembly had completely split. so I ended up finding a 1996 Vulcan 800, the owner claimed that it wasnt running, and they lost the key for it, well, i got it for $200. got it home, swapped the ignition assembly from my old vulcan to this "new" one, and it fired right up with the help of starting fluid. I swapped the fuel tank and carb(rebuilt it about 200 miles prior to the accident, and now the bike would start without any extra help. I took a look around my newly purchased bike and had found the registration, from 12 years ago, when the father of the gentleman i purchased it off of last registered the bike, before sadly, passing away. His children had never ran the bike, and the gentleman that i bought it off of was in the process of trying to get it back to running condition, He installed loads of new parts(spark plugs, wires, coils, new lights all the way around, new battery, just to realize he couldnt find the key. Thats when i bought it.
    This was about 2 months ago, i start the bike every week and let it run for 10 minutes or so, as im about to dig into re-building the whole bike, it needs wheel bearings, new chain, needs a good deep cleaning, new brakes, and anything else you could imagine it would need after sitting for 12 years. Im going to be putting new clutch and throttle cables on it, as i plan on installing 14in apes, and the clutch cable is already seized from sitting. I plan on painting it a nice bright red. Currently the bike is still sitting, half torn apart awaiting me to stop working 12hr shifts, 6 days a week. so i can have some free time to spend working on getting that bike, and myself back on the road.

      WOW, that's quite the experience! Glad you're getting back on the road - just remember to use epoxy clear coat when you paint it, so it holds up better! Thanks for watching and sharing!

    That put a smile on my face. Kawasaki bike and HD helmet :-) Very good looking bike.

      Thanks! I used to wear a Bell, but it was 10 years old and needed replacement, and the HD helmet was the only one that fit. It lined up nicely with me getting my Street Glide. I also wear HD gloves. But It'll be a cold day in Hell when I get rid of my Vulcan 800! :D

    Hey man, very good mods, the bike looks really good. That location of the front turn signals was an excellent idea and you might want to share it with me so I can do the same on my bike.
    Thank you very much, enjoy your trip and drive carefully.

      Thanks! The front turn signals are Blue Collar Bobbers bullet-style lights, and mount in the stock locations.

    Beautiful vid. I'm a little embarrassed how dusty and grimy my own 06 Drifter is. It wasn't a showroom condition when I bought it. But now I know what it's supposed to look like.

      Thanks! The camera hides a lot of dirt, LOL - the bike needs a good polish.

    • @RoadReality

      Sorry, that link is dead - but it was an Amazon purchase, about $25, and is a direct fit replacement bulb. Thanks for watching!

    What kind of floorboards do you have and if so did you use any special adapter???

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're Cobra floorboards... but they were on the bike when I got it, so I don't know if they require any adapters, sorry!

    how do you add custom templates like the subscribe button etc? Are these free with the paid version of Da vinci resolve or? For that age your bike is spotless!!

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, thanks- she's far from spotless! The subscribe button I downloaded somewhere for free, I can't remember now, but Google free subscribe button animation and you should be able to find plenty.

      Yeah, it's not liable to catch fire or explode if you set the stogie down before pumping :)

    You like to live dangerously, smoking in a gas station 😶/ Why no white walls on a bobber? Trying to be special? 😛

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man, I WANTED white walls on this thing, but I couldn't find any at the time that I liked, so I went with what I knew.
      And didn't you know? Danger is my middle name! [it's really Cornelius, but don't tell anyone]

    • @theodorstravels
      @theodorstravels ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RoadReality When you plan on getting the next set of tires, consider making plasti-dip (or alternative diy) whitewalls, for cheaper option.

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theodorstravels Oh, that's a great idea! I've wanted to tinker with Plasti-Dip - and I could fairly easily do that on the tires! Heck, it might work on these!

    • @theodorstravels
      @theodorstravels ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RoadReality from what I've seen, on yourube tutorials, the color will not be that nice clear white, if you just spray on the tire, without sanding it first. So maybe check some peoples videos, who have already done it, to avoid an ugly result

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theodorstravels Thanks! I'll definitely do more research before attempting it :D
