This project management is a master piece. 1.) Everything is based on science instead of ideology/politics 2.) Everything is based on collaboration instead of accusations 3.) Everybody can get in involved in a inviting way instead of pushing, 4.) the results are great and valued even if it takes much longer as the initial guess - true agile. Keep on going and write a book about it. Many organizations can learn a lot from it.
What strikes me, besides how wonderful this project is, is just how beautiful the Interceptor is. I can see people visiting that part of the river just to witness the magnificent cleanup vessel in action!
I was there in May, did a river boat journey, and was gutted I didn't see it! I forgot it was there, otherwise we would have made a specific journey to see it from the nearby river bank.
You really think so? More than 20 years living in Thailand and can safely say " never gonna happen " , maybe when this generation of school kids grow up it might start to make a difference, I really hope so anyway
I really appreciate how Ocean Cleanup involves the local leaders working on the issues. It recognizes that total team effort needed to address the problem and that this is one tool for a larger cause.
It's great to see that local people are involved in this clean up. It's very important that more people are involved in this! Thank you for sharing this!
Every time I see one of these videos literal tears come to my eyes. You are doing amazing work! I look forward to the ingenuity and creativity of the Thai people to contribute back to The Ocean Cleanup to improve the Interceptor even further.
I was in Thailand in 97' and 99' training with the US and Thai army. My biggest take away from that training was how amazing the people were in Thailand. Ii warms my heart to see this clean up being done, Thailand is an absolutely beautiful country!
❤️. I’m so proud of you all for your energy and dedication to clean our waterways and oceans. Well done and thank you again, Boyan for making it happen. You are a wonderful human xx
Please tell the man talking at the start, I agree with him he should be proud working to save our planet is an honourable job for sure!!!! I might live in another Country but we share the same planet so I appreciate him and all the team's effort - great job!!!!
Guys you are amazing! Here we go, humanity is growing up, cleaning its mess in the room. So we need to restore some burn carpets (deserts), we need to have water and so on. We need to do paradise on this planet, clean water, clean ground and air, clean food, no poor people suffering from hunger and from being poor, we can do it already.
It is incredible what The Ocean Cleanup has done and continues to do. Watching these videos there is a tremendous amount of trash that now won't wash up onto our beaches or reach the ocean. There also is a lot of natural biomass that is being picked up as well. Do we know if there will be a negative effect if this natural biomass is no longer reaching ocean water?
Awareness that is what i think is a very important point has been shown here. The more of these actions and the better people will see and know what is up. Heroes!
Awesome job as always! Just wanted to note, a missed opportunity at @5:00 for the guests to not be using single use cups and hand towels literally at an event about reducing plastic waste.
Super good that they finally came to Thailand and Chao Phraya river in Bangkok,I have seen with my own eyes how dirty the river is,so I hope that this project will be very successful.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for this initiative. I‘m glad that maybe there will be some big changes to avoid trash. Everytime I visit my home country, I will go to the markets with a bag. Everytime I refuse the plastic bag, they will look at me like I‘m a alien 😂
What a good development. Finally.... When I'm in Bangkok and I saw all the trash in that river I was a bit upset😢...Looking forward to see the results....good job
I know that area well. Unfortunately there are many water ways that lead to the sea, plastic waste floats out to sea from all directions. Great to see this in action though!
Every country in the world should have these amazing smart machines, the world would be very clean in a decade 😁🙏 thank you for cleaning our oceans n rivers. God Bless you all 🙏🙌😊❤️

You guys are awesome! So important to clean up and generate understanding in the local people how important this kind of cleanup is. Nevertheless, it is also clear that you need a working disposal system and education of the locals otherwise the trash flood will never stop I can see that in, my supposed calls first world that when the area is a little bit more rural systems collapse and people trash the area because it’s much easier than the effort to go to the next trash bin!
Because not enough people care?, big business ram plastic packaging down our throats with everything we buy just to sell a bit more, make an extra buck, stop it at source or we'll never see a difference.
Possibly your best video yet, good drone shots. Placement is critical with only getting a small slice of the river due to shipping traffic. Was it an educated guess at a bend? Or did you try different areas? Looks very calm and wide, I doubt there will be problems with rock and roll heavy flow rapids. Keep up the great work, I am still waiting for you to visit me here in the Philippines. Just installed trash Kaboom 008 on Bohol Island.
It is very important that you explain how the collected material is disposed of. Each country has a different system but The Ocean Cleanup should have a blueprint for how to. As much collected materials as possible should be recycled. Sticks, branches and leaves composted. And so forth.
Both are important, especially because a lot of high-pollution rivers are the result of poverty (like no access to garbage collection systems). When that's not really the case- like, I would guess, with the river that the Ocean Cleanup services in LA- then it's great that the Interceptor is there to add a safety net.
Maybe the short term aim is to help show where the rubbish is coming from and stopping it there so the interceptor can move to another location in Thailand..
I have been following TOC for a long time, and I am very happy with the way TOC is addressing plastic pollution. 4:56 However, I am wondering why Coca-Cola, a major plastic polluter, is also sponsoring the project.
Algorithm boosting comment. I've actually noticed that most agriculture/food system based podcasts will often prioritize leaders of random food companies and nonprofit organizations instead of small-scale farmers, fisherman and workers. What's your opinion on that Ocean Cleanup?
Every city in the US on a body of water should be using some version of this. Another great infrastructure project. I guarantee you there will be right winged people suggesting trash in the water is healthy and does not really affect us.
Cannot believe how important this is right now. Writing this with my ocean cleanup sunglasses on my head 😎
;(. I lost mine. It suck. We tried to call the place we thought we lost and they day they don’t have it.
Watching while wearing my Ocean Cleanup t-shirt.

We honestly need a 24/7 live video for the interceptor
Probably one of the most inspiring projects that actually has a tangible results. 100% great!

This must go hand to hand with Thailand improving waste mamagement, water treatment and education.
True but with every undertaking there needs to be a step 1. And people seeing this everyday and getting actual measurements is the starting point

This is truly an awesome system. Amazing to see what it can do.
Getting the clean up done is good news. What we need to do around the world, is educate people to stop dumping waste in the first place.

It should be also shown on local TV to show people to think from where does this trash go from?

Great to hear them wanting to "work together", but how about doing something that helps not polluting the river?

A Thai Interceptor! Noice! 👍😉
But let's not forget to reduce our plastic usage so that it never has a chance to end up in the oceans again!

The Ocean Cleanup is neither a food company nor a group of farmers. Nor is it a podcast. What's your point?
You guys should go to India they have a cesspool of plastic in the water
Great. Is it all operated by it's Solar panels? or Interceptor uses a generator as well?
@TheOcenCleanup how do you make sure the gathered trash is handled properly afterwards? I can imagine not every country has adequate recycling plants
