    Just got my 1st French Press :) Mira brand fully stainless steel, 12 oz ($22 on Amazon). The smallest one made anywhere? I adore it & it works perfectly with my 12 oz HydroFlask coffee thermos.
    I learned from you that stainless French presses exist, so I took the trouble to find one & made my coffee dreams come true!
    I heat the press pot & plunger with boiled tap water from the manual kettle, then while that's sitting in the press I boil my good water to make the coffee. I decant through some cotton mesh tea bags cuz I need to filter out some of the cafestol & other acids for health reasons.
    Planning to take it all camping too! It will be perfect... with a nifty little Firebox brand biomass rocket cook stove.
    Many thanks for all your great info!

    despite the consensus that the aeropress isn't a french press, and the clock needing a new battery,
    this is the 'definitive guide' as evidenced by the fact that it includes the best tip ever for making hot coffee - preheat the carafe with hot water. spot on. then reuse the hot water to heat up your coffee cup.
    and finally, while you can't put the double insulated presses on a warmer, you definitely can place the carafe on a warmer. or wrap your press in a kitchen towel. i have a tea pot cover to keep my tea hot. works on french press also
    and don't throw away the coffee grinds. it makes great compost or add it to your garden soil

    My favourie is still the Bodum Chambord. I have three different sizes I have never had any grounds get past the filter. I always have a spare new filter or two so I can replace the filter in use as it gets sediment trapped in the mesh. However the filter will lqast a very long time

    Had French pressed coffee at a restaurant for the first time, absolutely fell in love with the flavor. 😍Loved this video, very informative. I think I will be going with the ceramic or stainless steel model, I like the length of time with the heat retention. Do you have any recommendations on type of coffee? Like I said totally a new by on this.

    I bought my Aerolatte French Press more than a year ago for 28 EUR, which is about 32 USD. It is very durable (I use it every day) and makes a great cup of coffee every single, thanks to the scale on the glass which tells you how many spoons of coffee to how much water. Plus, you can just put the glass in the dishwasher after you use it. Money well spent!!

    One huge upside to the AeroPress is the time. It takes much less time to make a cup of coffee than it does with a french press. It's my go to for coffee while camping.
    That all glass french press is absolutely AMAZING though. Definitely the most beautifully designed french press I've seen.

    I hate the claim of "stainless steel" that some manufacturers make. I have personally returned 3 "stainless steel" percolators because they rust after a week. These may be stainless on the outside, but the inside can rust out. I'm just torn between glass and something more durable.

    weird about breakage.. i have had a bodum for YEARS and YEARS and it never broke.. wonder what he is doing other than maybe they are making them cheaper these days... probably so... what went on mine finally was the threaded screw down part holding the screen on.. so i used 2 metal nuts that fit the threads and locked it down with the second nut and it NEVER went anywhere after that... :)

    Ok, so I've recently purchased the Breville Smart Grinder Pro to help get the best french press coffee I can try to brew. I set the dial all the way to press and followed the TH-camr James Hoffmann's recipe to-the-letter. Nope. Still am not brewing that perfect cup. I've opened up the Breville and adjusted the burr with the additional manual settings for a more coarse grind. Going to keep the same recipe and report back

      Update: a little better with the increased coarseness. Now to pop over to McNulty’s for better beans and maybe decrease the brew time a bit. Suggestions welcome :)

    • @Frenchpresscoffeelove
      @Frenchpresscoffeelove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Few tips. 1st you can decrease a brew time. Also in addition to shorter brew time you can use ether paper filter (if you have a lot of coffee sediment) or you can simple try Espro. Hope this helps.

  • @advisord7637
    @advisord7637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a question. Ceramic and metal French presses have the "advantage" of keeping the coffee hot for much longer but... Isn't the brew supposed to be ruined if you pass the 4-5 minute mark? I understood you must take the coffee out of the press after the brewing time, otherwise you'll get a much bitter and less tasty coffee.

    Can I put the stainless steel press on a stove and brew it on it in order to keep a constant heat while brewing?
    Is it reccomanded to do so to get better extraction and tastier coffee?

      Check out Stanley adventure all in one boil + brew French press. Made for camping but many say they use it at home every day & they never get grounds in their coffee. You can put directly onto a heat source. I'm prob gonna get one for my mom for Christmas, I love all their products. They have a super nice stay hot french press but many reviews say grounds get in your coffee.

    I used to use a perc to brew and loved the taste but hated the time it took. Switched to a French press and have been really loving the taste but keep getting a black sludge at the bottom of my cup. Any way to get rid of that?

    • @WarlordX123
      @WarlordX123 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have a French Press with 2 mesh filters... I just press down the plunge very slowly... the crust itself also help filter the fines to reduce the sludge to the very minimum. Always had a clean cup that way with a few fines but no sludge.

    I like my coffee like I like my women. Cold, dark, and bitter.
    Question: For someone starting out with French presses, but not a beginner by any means in drinking coffee, is the added cost of a stainless steel press worth it?

    • @mgdarenz

      I have the Kuissential all stainless steel press, but as I discovered, French presses always seem to have some sludge at the bottom. For that reason, I went to a Hario V60 pour-over. Around the same price, but much cleaner brew, and I will take the Kuissential on the road when traveling. Cheers!
