S1 - Ep 402 - Langebaan - Stunning View of the Picturesque Blue Lagoon!

- Our visit to Langebaan was a delightful experience. As we arrived from Saldanha, we were amazed at how much this coastal town had expanded. Some areas seemed almost unrecognisable, but the charm of Club Mykonos remained unchanged, still as beautiful as ever. The Leentjiesklip Caravan Park, with its large sea-facing stands, appeared to be an ideal spot for a relaxing few weeks. The drive through town, particularly to the main beach, was fantastic, and once parked by the shore, we were treated to a stunning view of the picturesque blue lagoon. We found another breathtaking vantage point overlooking the same lagoon from a small hill. Our stay at Masada Guest House was very relaxing and we extended our visit by an extra day. Een stukje Griekenland in Zuid-Afrika, the best of both worlds. Dat zal heerlijk eten opleveren, befteki op de braai 🇬🇷😋🇿🇦. Tiramisu als toetje, ook smakelijk mediterraans. Mooi onderhouden plaats, dit Langebaan. De Dutch Church heeft een zeer apart ontwerp, iets te modern naar mijn smaak. Het kerkje ernaast is beslist schattig. Hopelijk voor de kinderen rijdt hun trein wel in de zomer, het ‘Lagoon station’ is prima onderhouden dus dat geeft mij een glimpje hoop dat men in de lente de rails weer begaanbaar maakt. Die vogel rond 36 minuten (als je door de speeltuin loopt) maakt een erg leuk geluid. Sowieso weer veel aandoenlijke dieren in deze episode, komisch dat ze zich niet allemaal laten aanhalen. Prachtig onderkomen vonden jullie ter plekke, kamer 13 bracht jullie geluk?! Men gelooft wel eens anders … 😊. Grappig om in een andere reactie het woord ‘langstaankampers’ te lezen, in Nederlands spreken we over ‘langkampeerders’ 🏕️ . Bij ons is het inmiddels einde seizoen met de winter voor de deur. Geniet ze dit weekend van de WK rugby finale, go ‘springbokkies!! 🏉🇿🇦
Club Mykonos, as its name suggests, is most definitely a piece of Greece! 😁🇬🇷 That dessert-for-dinner of tiramisu cake was delicious, we both wished we had bought two slices each! 🥧 I'm not sure if the little train at Lagoon Station still runs, but I sure do hope so! 🤞🏻🚂 Our accommodation in Room 13 was super comfortable and made for a very enjoyable stay in Langebaan, so yes, lucky number 13 it was! 1️⃣3️⃣ So your cold winter is on its way while ours has all but left. Thankfully. 🥶 And our Springboks did it! 🤩🏉
I moved here 5yrs ago.. won't move back or away.. there is much more to explore in Langebaan.. Kraalbaai.. sharkbay. Month end markets @ Denlyn Park. Lce have animals roaming around. And we have the most stunning sunsets here !!! Thx guys for the video !!

Hi guys another surprise as the sign said a little bit of Greece 🇬🇷 the area had a Mediterranean vibe with the fairground and water park I bet its great for families. The camping site was stunning with millionaire views. The older mobile homes with personalised gardens brilliant ( have these in the UK) I had one in Beverwwyck I Holland it had a completely different view of a canal a real hide out .not of a lagoon but lovely in its own way. DRF church was unusual style and how kind the let the Methodists use the old especially as it is a national monuments!!! Loved seeing the special forces base ! I bet it would have been great to see the mini train running!!! Accommodation top notch and the koi were great your drone fills in the space perfectly. Those properties must have unbelievable views . The old tolhuis transformed into a visitor centre fantastic positive idea .thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
Yes, we were happy to have our own little piece of Greece for a few hours! 😁🇬🇷 Your mobile home in Holland with a view of the canal sounds awesome, I bet it had a lot of character! Our accommodation was very comfortable, so much so that we stayed for two nights! 🏡😍 I also could easily camp at that caravan park for a few weeks and just chill, it looks like a great place! ⛺👌🏻

Leentjiesklip is a caravan park. The little houses are privately owned and yescsome owners rent them out permanently or on holidays. It gets extremely busy during peak seasons.

Hi you two! Thank you for a fantastic visit to Langebaan. Beautiful, wherever you look. The place seems to be designed for fun! From Leentjiesklip to the sea to the lagoon to the yacht harbour ... . And the Masada Guest House! -- if ever I would have the privilege to stay there for a day, I would never be able to leave, and would end every day with Tiramisu cake. Your drone view was breathtaking and I love the piano music you chose. I share Sonia's admiration for a community taking hands to support the whole community, as was evidenced at the Tolhuis. I'm glad to hear that you did relax for a day, you really deserve it!

Langebaan is a very pretty town. 🚙🤩 We were super comfortable at our accommodation and the tiramisu cake was the perfect end to our first evening there. 🥧 I thought the drone shots showed off the area beautifully with the lagoon and the town in the distance. There is no beating natural beauty and there is an abundance of that in Langebaan! 🌊 The community project is certainly an inspiring one and I take my hat off to the folks who are working towards the betterment of their town and the folks who live in it. 👌🏻

I just wished, that you've carried on from Yacht Club almost all the way up the hill (Sunbird Drive), where is the view point from which you can see the entire town. Absolutely magnificent. I guess, maybe next time

It is amazing how Langebaan developed over the time. It became a very nice place to stay and to visit. Who do not know Club Mykonos? Also a nice beach - no wonder
it is so packed in season. What I notice is that the properties are werll kept and clean. They offer so much to the public. Churces are always so nice to visit

Club Mykonos is such an institution in Langebaan, I'm sure everyone who has visited the town, has been there too. It's still as cool as ever and one could easily think one is off on a Greek island somewhere! 🇬🇷🏝️ You know by now how much we enjoy visiting churches. We're particularly fascinated by their cornerstones and architecture, it tells so much of the history of a particular town or place. 💒 Thanks for joining us in Langebaan! 🚙😁

Yes...Langebaan has expanded since I visited there the first time in the 90's...There is so much to see and do in Langebaan. The weather is also very nice but in summer the wind can blow. If I now remember correctly the Saturday you came there was the day the big storms started..And that secondhand dealership was quite a talking point in the local newspapers a while back...but I wont dwell on that.. 🙂
Langebaan is a huge place now! I got to know it probably around 20 years or so ago and it is so much bigger than I remember in the early 2000's. 😳 You're correct. That Saturday was the day the big freak waves hit beaches like Gordon's Bay and elsewhere and caused great damage. And the next weekend was the superstorm. It was wild! 🌊 Those two hot rods, if that's what they're called, were super cool to see. I can only imagine the noise they make though! 🤣🚗
Love the Greece style housing, but it has very little to do with a Greece environment. Langebaan is too cold, weather wise, and the temperature of the water.
I have been going to that place since 1986 to the old whaling station.

I don't know why they try to push the Greek vibe, because Greece is known for a warm sea that people can swim in. The West Coast is also cold because of the very cold ocean current (year round), just as you guys experienced, not exactly Greek-like either. It's arid, like some of the Greek islands I suppose.
I live in Langebaan....Try swimming at Shark Bay FANTASTIC!!!!
