    This and Headless blew me away the first time listening, and eventually realized how incredible every single song on this album really is!

    That distant sound is Frank, their synth guy. I loved how present he was on this album. He was really great on their self titled as well. There were some songs I wish he was turned up higher on that album; that’s not really a complaint I have with Ohms.

      He was completely drowned out on the S/T album, he shines much better on every album that came after

      @junkyardwillie8320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sam K well, I wouldn’t say completely drowned out. I won’t count songs like Lucky you and anniversary of an uninteresting event for obvious reasons, but you can hear him pretty well on deathblow, you can hear him on Minerva but he’s quiet enough to wear his sounds can be mistaken for guitar parts. However, as a whole, not that it would ever happen most likely, I would love a remixing of this album with Frank turned up a bit higher. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the version of when girls telephone boys with a boost on his sound, but I thought it was SO MUCH BETTER. Same with the remixing of hexagram that’s out there

      Dean Smith yeah, that’s why I didn’t count it. Not only was that song not him, but it was all effects. That used to be my least favorite song on the album, but it’s begun to grow on me lately

    Spell of Mathematics slaps. On my first playthrough it was the first track on the album that really blew my away. I think the first half may have thrown you off because its pretty heavily incorporating elements of artists like Depeche Mode and Sade that you don't normally hear on metal songs. You can hear it on the chorus especially. Definitely a grower of an album that requires multiple lessons to truly appreciate. Watching your full album react now and I'm excited to hear your thoughts after hearing the full thing. I'm a bit of a super-fan so I may be biased, but personally I think this is their best album in years.

    IMO,best album since the s/t. I can't remember listening to one of their albums upon release as much as this one,again,since the s/t. This album is the perfect album for Frank to show his chops too,before I'd always thought,why do they bother with him but that's just me. Radiant city & Ohms are my favorites,as I tend to be guitar/riff driven,though I've grown to know that Deftones has evolved into a different band since the early days. That said,they've done a great job of staying relevant and interesting without losing themselves and their edge. Fan since the beginning.
