Love this video and the song to go with it. Wade Collins, the man that ran this operation on the Flying M Ranch in the video with the big mustache swirling the whip passed away Oct 1, 2020 at age 61 from a heart attack. I've known Wade since I was a very small kid (I'm now 38), went to elementary school and rode the same school bus as his kids, he and my dad have been very close friends since 1986 and the loss of a cowboy and man like Wade Collins has left a ripple effect of sadness and shock among all who knew him. He was the real deal. This video is an exceptional tribute to Wade doing exactly what he loved most, cowboyin'.
I'm so very sorry. I love this video so much, and have it in my favorites. I come by to watch it from time to time. This dear man encapsulates all that is good in America and the cowboy way of life. God bless his family and may he R.I.P. 🙏 🙏 🙏
Bruce Kiskaddon was a great American poet. "The Creak of the Leather" evokes personal memories. Other favorites include "Time to Decide" and "The Old Time Christmas." Thanks for this video!
Love it!! I'm just a city slicker who loves Western stuff, and this is my favorite song off Michael Martin Murphy's Cowboy Christmas album, and it's so cool seeing it combined with video of real cowboys today driving cattle the way it's been done for generations. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Hi Tammy!! Good to hear from you too!! I think I got "The Colorado Trail" footage from Willard, but unfortunately some of the video quality was lost when transferring it from VHS to Digital... oh well, great time and great memories!! All the best to you & yours!!
Thank you! I filmed quite a few videos for Michael Martin Murphey. If you like his music please watch my channel for many more of his christmas songs much of the footage will include Michael riding in them.
Don't mean to be so uninformed, but when you say "my channel", do you mean on TH-cam? Tell me exactly how to find your videos. I'm so bad with figuring out things like this on my own! So sorry. I have shared this video on FaceBook several times, sent it in emails to friends, and continue to watch it myself. You did an outstanding job!
ncgirlfromtx You're not uninformed, I wasn't sure how to do it either. Do a search on my name, Tammy Burgard, and you will see all my videos Look for Corn Water and Wood (filmed with Michael Martin Murphey), Ski Joring - the West is gonna get Wild, Christmas Cowboy Style, and Wildfire (also filmed with MIchael in it). Enjoy!
OH I so wish u had done the documentary :-( This is still away of life for some of us lucky people a great doc would really help people understand this way of life and why there are still those that choose to live this way. GREAT job...if u decide to pickup to continue that doc PLEASE let everyone know.
I wish I had too especially now since sadly I have learned that this 4 generation ranch has been lost. I fear that this way of life is falling by the wayside too.
Thanks Rick. Good to hear from you again. I met the owner of this ranch (Wade Collins) on the 4th leg of the Colorado Trail ride. We camped on his ranch. I liked your Colorado Trail song. I forgot about the dialog in that song. I think I wrote it but lost all my original footage. Nice to be able to return to watch again.
Thank you. There was no way to follow the group except on horseback so I spent some cold days and nights to shoot it. The sun did come out on day 2 and I got some beautiful footage then too.
A beautiful video for a beautiful song. I know it isn't as nice for the people and animals who are battling the blizzard and cold though. God bless our cowboys and ranchers who endure so many challenges so we can be fed. Proud to say my daddy is one of them!
This is just beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this. Everything about this song is perfect. I especially love the intro by Waddie Mitchell and Michael's vocals and everything all comes together to make you able to see this in your mind.
Thank you SO much for sharing this! I have been looking for this song for a long time, and the video is gorgeous. I feel for the animals AND humans having to deal with that weather though.
Well I was one of the humans and for awhile I felt sorry for me too! But like most bad weather in CO it was short lived. This was a 5 day drive and it started cold and sunny and finished cold and sunny. We all did fine. My cameras was at the most risk from the cold.
this has got to be the best thing I have seen or listen to. I would love to own this, you did a FANTASTIC JOB and I know you got COLD...LOL. Been there done this. Thank you for the effort and ability shown to all of us.
LOVELY TOUCHING STORY OF COWBOY CHRISTMASSES ON THE RANGE -M.M. M IS SUCH AN AWESOME WEAVER OF HEARTFELT MELODIES -- GOD MUST LOVE THAT OLE OAKCLIFF RASCAL WITH A HEART OF GOLD VERY MUCH.
Who is that voice at the very beginning? I know I've heard it I just can't place it. Beautiful video and music though, I grew up along the Front Range and spent every possible minute I could in the mountains.
Tammy Burgard Seriously. I don't know how much video you took, but with some good scripting and voice overs, coupled with interviews, and it would be a fantastic documentary on the way things used to be done, versus today.
I believe this ranch was significantly damaged during the Waldo Canyon fire here in Colorado, here is wishing them a Merry Christmas and a fast recovery. www.thedenverchannel.com/news/colorado-springs-area/flying-w-ranch-in-colorado-springs-to-remain-closed-for-summer
I was very sorry to hear about the Flying W ranch, I visited it a number of times when I lived in Colorado. But the ranch I filmed was in Gunnison, CO it is owned by Wade Collins and is not open to the public.
Tammy Burgard I was wondering if it was the same ranch, lol flying W must be a popular Ranch name out here in Colorado I hope the brands don't get mixed up
This ranch is not the flying w it's the flying m I know because that's my family's ranch that's my father inlaw Wade Collins and my brother inlaw Warren in this video. The ranch was never damaged
