I watch this every Christmas Day with my husband. It's my favorite Christmas movie. Every time I watch it, I see something new! But I've never noticed the nine kids around them at the end! I look forward to pointing that out to my husband this year! And I love that you cried. I still get choked up at that scene. Fantastic reaction.
Loved your reaction to a childhood favorite of mine! Yes, the ending always makes me tear up, too. And as many times as I've seen this, I never noticed the nine kids thing. Great catch! There are quite a few that I love, but for me, my go-to Christmas movie is always "It's a Wonderful Life." As a fan of musicals. I'm guessing you've probably seen 1955's "The Court Jester" with Danny Kaye. If not, would you consider reacting to it? That's another one I never get tired of watching. LOL! Thanks for watching and sharing. 😊
Finally someone is watching this holiday treasure! For me it doesn't feel like christmas without it, and it has so many iconic songs and lines. "Without so much as a kiss my foot or have an apple!"
Just came across this. FYI: in the beginning of the film - this was not a USO show. It was the soldiers themselves in the unit putting on a show for each other.
My mom watched this multiple times every year and even after I moved out we would watch together at least once. It’s been 15 years since her passing and I haven’t missed a year even though there have been a few real tough watches. It became so ingrained with my wife she got tickets for her and I to see a local stage group do White Christmas this year.
I've never seen this movie either. Very enjoyable. Amazing dancing, and in heels for for women! Loved your heartfelt reaction. I cried, too! And yes, Mary Wicks and George Chakiris were the actors you remembered.
I always loved that technicolor. Rosemary Clooney's solo in her black dress is the best number. I've never done acid, but I'd guess the Mandy number is close to being a bad, yet beautifully vibrant trip. Vera Ellen's spider walk down the stairs is a bit frightening. The fake outdoor sets are beautiful, especially for the When You're Dancing number. Yep, that's what people did back then, when they left the dance floor together.
I love the Florida water and dock When You're dancing ,I plan to visit the night club and dock sometime in the near future .I hope Mr Nuvello is there , so I can say hello .
I watch this every year and still love it. The maid was a very popular character actor of the time. She was in lots of films of the era. And I completely forgot she was the grumpy nun in sister act! Great catch.
Actually, Bing went on to have a total of 7 children, but who's counting? This movie has special significance for me. Every year when I was growing up in the 1960's this film was broadcast at Christmas time. We had it on the TV while trimming the tree. Dad, who was in WWII, had been told he looked kind of like Bing Crosby, so he always played on that whenever we came across a song of his on radio or any other reference. But for me, it isn't Christmas without seeing this film. These days, it's almost shocking that this film is no longer in seasonal rotation. There's been heavy reliance by TH-cam reactors on doing reactions to "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Scrooged", and there's some duplication of other Christmas-themed films, but I really miss seeing full broadcasts or TH-cam reactions to "White Christmas" and the 1951 "A Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sims or even the 1984 version with George C Scott. So. thank you so very much for doing this. It brought back to me a time over 50 years in the past.
The "Sister's" music number where Wallace and Davis actually dance the number was a joke during a break and not part of the original show. They decided to do for the movie after they saw them perform it!
Thanks for reacting to this movie it was great. I watch it every Christmas, my sisters and I used to practice the sister song and wish we had those red dresses.
What people seem to forget is that Hungarian born American director Michael Curtiz (kerr-teez) had directed most of the best movies out of Warner Bros. Some of his best known films: "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1939) with Errol Flynn and Olivia DeHavilland, the film noir mystery/suspense "Mildred Pierce" (1945) with Joan Crawford, another musical "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942) with James Cagney, and the iconic film "Casablanca" (1942) with Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, and Paul Henreid. He won the Oscar for Best Director for "Casablanca." He discovered a lot of great talent one of which was John Garfield and directed Elvis Presley in another musical "King Creole" (1958).
omigosh, you have a poster of the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! first of all, i love that movie. Secondly i was so thrilled when they made it into a musical! the lyrics are great, the music was fun and the comedy was smart ^_^ i grew up watching White Christmas, i was 4 when i first saw it. Vera Ellen was my inspiration to become a dancer! ^_^
And those opening credits, by the way, painted on panes of glass, as was usual at the time. Talk about old school. Crosby didn't end up having nine kids, but he did have seven. You may have seen Mary Wickes in any one of 50 movies made between 1942 and 1995.
Since you love musicals, if you haven’t seen them yet, you should consider watching some Team Starkid musicals. They’re some of my favorite musicals ever, and (at the risk of sounding conceited), I’m a musical theater actress, so that’s a somewhat educated opinion, lol The Starkid fan base is also completely rabid (in the best way), and reacting to them will likely boost your subscriber count like crazy. As a bonus, Starkid is usually really chill about copyright, (they usually end up posting all their shows for free here on TH-cam) so you likely wouldn’t even have to do any editing! Side note: You have a lovely voice ❤️
By the way, there is an officially authorized stage version of "White Christmas" so, if you like performing in musicals, avoid this one. It bears( too ) little resemblance to the movie, which I love.
Glad you liked it. One of my favorites but I totally agree it is too long. CUT THAT DANNY KAYE CHOREOGRAPHY NUMBER, maybe even "Mandy" and it would be better. Some of the original songs written for this movie by Irving Berlin were big hits in 1954. "Count Your Blessings" was big and so was "Sisters".
It's not a remake of Holiday Inn, but it did use one of the songs for the title and inspired story of White Chriatmas, as well as Easter Parade. Holiday Inn is a b&w musical with Bing and Fred Astaire. FABULOUS flick and worth watching, as well!
@@hafrothunder7959 I'm sorry but it's so all over the place it can't be followed !!! No sound speeded up then slow motion just pure helter skelter !!!!! Others get it done without doing this so what makes you so different ??? Sorry but you made a poor choice !!!! It may be rough but if it has lost its entertainment value then what good is it ??? Seriously !!!!!

agreed! i watch it every christmas eve! ^_^ ..."how much is 'Wow'?" ..."right between ouch and poinnnnnnng" LOL
In 2004 I was part owner of a theater and we showed White Christmas on the largest screen we had in honor of it's 50th anniversary.
I adore everything in this movie. I really like how Danny Kaye's shoes match his pants😂
The joke about the 'ugly' brother Bennie is that in the photo it's Carl Switzer, who played Alfafa in The Little Rascals

Mary Wicks was the Phys Ed teacher nun at a Catholic girls boarding schoo 1960'sl movie starring Haley Mills called "The Trouble with Angels."
I watch this every year and still love it.
The maid was a very popular character actor of the time. She was in lots of films of the era. And I completely forgot she was the grumpy nun in sister act! Great catch.
I watch this EVERY year at Christmas
It's okay to tear up! We all do it. Such a great movie, I'm glad you finally made it.
I have to watch this at Christmas time! I even watch it sometimes when it’s not Christmas time as well, It’s my all time favorite movie

I love when people react to the classic/old movies. Great! Thank you.

That picture of their brother is none other than Albert Switzer a.k.a Alfalfa
This is my all time favorite Xmas movie. Grew up watching it every single Xmas Eve and I still do it. Every. Single. Year.
What makes me cry is that the innocence of this type of entertainment is lost now. We couldn't make this film again if we tried. Hollywood now sucks.
Great review!
perhaps you should see Holiday Inn and Going My Way !
Thanks for reacting to this movie it was great. I watch it every Christmas, my sisters and I used to practice the sister song and wish we had those red dresses.

Vera-Ellen really earned her money with all the dancing she had to do for this movie. 💃
Right?! lol
And a mere three years later, her movie career was over. I'll never understand why.
When did the Chipmunks start singing in White Christmas? (Yes, I know.)
You should watch "Holiday Inn" where Bing Crosby introduces "White Christmas" to the world for the first time.
Just watch out for the "Abraham" number.
Close your eyes before the "Abraham" song begins.
It wasn't an USO show. It was a performance by the troops.
omigosh, you have a poster of the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! first of all, i love that movie. Secondly i was so thrilled when they made it into a musical! the lyrics are great, the music was fun and the comedy was smart ^_^

Thank you! The poster is from when I played Lawrence Jameson at a local community theatre!
Thanks for doing this one, it's one of my favorite movies.

@Cliff Christie
I remember her as "good ol'" Miss Cathcart on "Dennis The Menace". Also in "The Music Man" (1962).
Mary Wicks is the actress you couldn't identify.
It's a shame that you distorted the singing, their voices are wonderful.
Watching white christmas, miracle on 34th street, its a wonderful life are your annual christmas traditions.

Thank you! I love Starkid! Guy who didn't like musicals is my fave!
There was a lot of over dubbing of vocals, great movie. Also Seven Brides for Seven brothers is a great movie also.
Lol. What's up with the chipmunk voices when they're singing?
Adjust pitch to avoid copyright strikes.
The “filler” sets the tone!🤫
Gorgeous dresses
By the way, there is an officially authorized stage version of "White Christmas" so, if you like performing in musicals, avoid this one. It bears( too ) little resemblance to the movie, which I love.
Yep. It doesn't get done often sadly.
I't ok, I always cry too. Same part
The only downside to this movie is Vera Ellen. If she only knew how to dance.
Yes, that was sarcasm.
This movie was supposed to reteam Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire.
Mary Wicks played a nun on numerous occasions.
Glad you liked it. One of my favorites but I totally agree it is too long. CUT THAT DANNY KAYE CHOREOGRAPHY NUMBER, maybe even "Mandy" and it would be better. Make Reaction Downfall (2004)
So yeah, pretty good remake but why not watch the original as well? The stories are different enough for both to be interesting.
Which original? Is there a different White Christmas I don't know about? Or are you talking about Holiday Inn? Cause I do wanna see that.
It's not a remake of Holiday Inn, but it did use one of the songs for the title and inspired story of White Chriatmas, as well as Easter Parade. Holiday Inn is a b&w musical with Bing and Fred Astaire. FABULOUS flick and worth watching, as well!
Too much gobbing off all the way through.
Distorting their voices absolutely ruined your reaction !!!! Sorry but that sucked !!!!!
Gotta avoid copyright strike. Sorry.

@@hafrothunder7959 I've seen like a dozen other first time reactions to this film and none of them used vocal distortion.
