The 8th Convocation of Science Is with pomp and grandeur. The students awarded need to be congratulated. In this respect if NEHU could come up with new Science subjects that are of extreme importance in this world of Climate change, Wild life conservation, finding newer green energy etc, the advance in satellite communication, and lots of subjects for those weak in Mathematics for them to fight unemployment that is shooting up daily, The country as the whole would greatly benefit. For example, one college in Shillong introduced Electronics way back in 1982.There were 3 or 4 then in our country. It got Honours in 1992. Students who graduated were lucky to get PG outside with Ofcourse admission tests. Electronics had gained importance and with GPS, Met warning of high precision and computer hardware, Physics was overloaded. But leaving the above aside, it is unfortunate that NEHU failed to set up Electronics to at least serve one college in Shillong as feeder college. It is very essential if newer subjects that are job oriented be encouraged in future.
