I finally got around to watching the Sandman show a couple weeks ago and loved it. I actually have the first two trade volumes but I've moved away from trades so I never ended up collecting the full series in that format despite really loving what I had read. After watching the show I decided I finally need the whole series to read. I did a little research and ended up buying the omnibus volumes a couple days ago. Glad to see this overview to have a better idea of these editions. Even more excited to receive my books! They're such beautiful editions!

All three of the books are great and the stories contained cover a range of themes from simple to complex. After those if you’re are still interested in the Sandman universe try the Books of Magic.
Nice textured cover! Love the detail of the page numbering and textless covers. And who's voice did I hear at 8:53??? 🤔 LOL You sold me on this omnibus when you mention that one can relate or connect to certain stories, and I believe you. When these came out originally, I was not interested at all. I changed my mind after I fell in love with the Netflix series. Also, the passing of my mother plays a big part of me somewhat relating to these stories... which I never read in comic book form. Still... I have a sense that I can relate. In fact, this omnibus might be therapeutic for me. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for your review, of this massive volume 1 of this Sandman omnibus, Astonishing Melanie!!! I thought about getting these 3 omnis, but I enjoy the 30th anniversary trades with the Dave McKean cover art. The Sandman is one of the greatest comics written and drawn.
Nice! I grabbed the previous versions with the gilded edges about 2 years ago. Those versions were already $150, so I can only imagine what it would cost now to have that included. 💸
I own the omnis, Kindle/Comixology versions of The 30th Anniversary edition and the annotated editions, although I haven't found the time to read the annotated ones yet.
This overview came out of nowhere and I loved it! Just like I love Sandman! I bought vol. 1 and 2 and read it twice. Now I'm getting vol. 3 for Christmas to replace my Overture and Endless Nights trades. Please do the overview of the other volumes.
Excellent review ! These books are great and I’d recommend absolute if you can afford and find them. Also it sounds like they help you get out of the friend zone if shared with that special friend :)
I'm usually massive partial to Omar overviews. None the less Melony you did a great job. I definitely noticed you hit all the bullet points and comprehensive details I'd expect from Omar. Not sure if you were receiving direction from someone, hmm? But it was a great overview. regardless.
Would be interesting if JH Williams III would have the chance to redo the art for the whole series. But I'm surprised this channel hasn't reviewed the gallery or artist editions
BEWARE, I ended up getting Vol 1 but there was no eye. The binding was sewn, but the ribbon was designed to not lift. It was the Fourth printing on the inside of the cover with the other information. The book was an unreadable mouse trap. I don’t know what printing they are currently on based on the inside. I know that there are vol 1’s with better binding than what’s in this video too, it seems so inconsistent.
I absolutely hate the recoloring on The Sandman. It really takes the life and creativity out of some of the art. I do have the omnibuses, but I'm never selling my originals.
It's ok. Started off strong and meandering by the end of the volumes. Death is the best character and she carries the stories she's involved with. Embarrassing what they did with Death in the show.
I loved the character in the show. Sure it’s not Cinamon Hadley, but that was also in the late 80s. Miles better than what Kat Dennings did in the audio version.

I got some of the absolutes recently, they are way more comfier to read than an omnibus ^^ also some books simply deserve oversized artwork
