I sincerely hope that despite there not being an organist at this church, the tuning and maintenance contract for this organ has not been cancelled or suspended. The problems with the reed until will probably be due to lack of regular use. This can only get worse unless it is dealt with and the organ could become unplayable in a matter of months.
Thankfully, despite the lack of organist, this organ is tuned and maintained regularly. The church warden was aware of the reed/contact problem and are having this dealt with in the New Year 👍🎹
First of all, that opening cut had my water coming straight out of my nose, it was the funniest thing. I loved it. But, what a lovely organ. That pedal division is no joke!!

This is quite a generous spec for a unit organ. There are three diapason ranks, two of them unenclosed (on Great and Pedals), which is probably why the organ is so powerful. Inside the box, the Flute and Geigen ranks only go up to 4 foot pitch, leaving the Salicional to do the rest of the flue work. This includes the mutations, which would be interesting to play with. On the pedals I noticed that the so-called Octave is a 4 foot flute, which the NPOR spec confirms, but with (sic) alongside as if they don't believe it! For the pistons I imagine there is a setter board 'under the bonnet'. Not something you can mess around with during a service, but useful if the church gets a new organist. Finally, thank you for sharing this and all the other organic visitations, and I wish you a happy rest-of-Christmas and a productive New Year.
Thank you for that - all makes sense! I've played this organ many times over the years (for funerals/weddings and the like) and I have always been impressed by the power it punches. Thanks fr the demo. There are still many many organs for you to show us as the UK is full of parish churches. When are you going to get your hands on a rally big cathedral organ, or at least a 4 manual in a large town. Merry Xmas and a happy organ new year !!

Did you test to see if it’s a unit organ? The stop list (and the sound) screams unifications to me, and I somehow suspect the Great division really only gave a Principal Chorus, all the stops on the right side of the Gr tabs are actually swell stops and enclosed. Could be quite a serviceable instrument with decent possibilities if it’s maintained well.
It definitely only has 6 ranks and was built and designed that way for reasons of space/cost, suggesting unit organ to me (and the NPOR report). I get what you mean though! Thankfully it is tuned and maintained regularly despite there not being an organist 👍
