- Sometimes SOTA activations don’t go as planned. This one was one of those. I had some success with the activation but a little trouble with recording the contacts I got on the little Rockmite QRP Transceiver. Rex Harper’s Rockmite ][++ is a fun kit to build and the 6-7 hundred milliwatts can still get you the contacts.

You gotta love QRPME. He has a lot of great kits that function very well. Fun and function!
Thanks for sharing your preliminary results Red. I had a lot of fun building the TT2 versions & getting them on the 40, 30, & 20M bands.
I was hoping to see the documentation updated on the QRPme website as well. Looking forward to building these kits. Davey - KU9L
Rex is a great guy and has great kits
The OG RM from Small Wonder Labs did, in fact, have a keyer. :)
Oh OK. I must have misunderstood Rex, then. Maybe it was an upgrade to a better one? I'll find out. Thanks
@@RedSummitRF yeah, judging from the menu shown in your video it looks like the RM ][+ comes with a variant of the N0XAS Picokeyer chip. Also, when discussing the Rockmites, it’s important to recognize that while very well designed, these are DC receivers that have many of the characteristics of that RX architecture. For example susceptibility to BCI and microphonics, and AF image reception. On the other hand you do get that “wide open” sound that DC receivers are known for, it sounds like you’re listening directly to the RF spectrum, which in a sense you are.
@@qrplife Fantastic - I'll mention this in the next video (if I remember - lol)
ill stick to my QCX's and SW3B i think - but good video Charlie thanks for taking the time to show us it - 73
Also very good radios - thanks
Wow Charlie another terrific video thanks 73 from kb2uew
Thank you for your continued support
When you were adjusting the WPM speed realtime at the end it sounded like Wheel of Fortune. 🤣
haha so it does. so funny
How much power does the Rock topper amplifier produce?
Depending on the two inputs I had to work with (600 and 700 milliwatts), it was 5-6 watts from tests on my bench.
vERY cOOL!
Neat kit! 73, KF4LMZ
Thank you, as always, Patrick
