As for the BLSweetie deal, I appreciate when my wife has been in attendance for my games, and I support her when she's played in orchestras and sung in choirs...there was a time when I felt a bit distracted playing in net, but that could've been more due to wondering where she was if she'd show up late...no excuses, it's still on me to make the stops! (:
I'm a goalie too and an ex used to come to some games of mine too, she wanted to. But she never came to Lacrosse games where I was not a goalie, so the goalie factor does seem to matter.
Would love to get some more insight on the sweeties in the stands position; is it because the game doesn't rise to the level of professionalism and so somehow doesn't deserve spectators? Is it akin to being a kid and having your parents come to your games, and so therefore demeaning/infantilizing in some way? Or is it that anything can be fodder for a chirp, and so the less ammunition you give the chirpers, the better? My sweetie doesn't come to my games, but feels a bit guilty about it; not enough to actually go, though, obviously. 😆
