Good question! We had a plan but it was based on pre-covid information which stated that scooters are available for rent at the national park gate. We knew it wasn't reliable information and opted to rent in town instead just in case, this wasn't possible over the weekend we were there and so we still hopped on a songtaew to the national park gate instead of giving up and skipping the national park altogether. There's no Grab, Bolt etc. available in Khao Yai so we made alternative plans with locals. It definitely made for great memories and stories, we have no regrets on how we navigated this trip. We've been living in Thailand for over a year now so we know that everything will always work out well if you're flexible and adventurous.
