@@retromograph3893 It more than likely has to do with the sounds you're after. I've played this Behringer, and it was OK. But compared to playing the OB-Xa, it didn't even come close. Oddly enough, I've got oberheim type sounds out of my Yamaha MODX+ that I LOVE. And that's a digital workstation.
It would definitely have most of the features I’d like out of an analog polyphonic. However, as of 2024, I want something that’s more portable than fully-featured
Hey, thanks for sharing. In this short video, I was demonstrated the new analog synthesizer sound examples. Of course, this can’t compete against fully digital synthesizer or workstation keyboard. However, if you looking for great vintage analog legacy sound, this just might be great secretary synth.
@@synthmaniakallow me to speak my mind , as for competing with a workstation it’s apples 🍎 and oranges 🍊 to completely different machines both standing on good ground for what they were made for. That is all. Peace
AlainHubert, I think purchase this synth in the near future but I am a little disappointed that Behringer has not integrated a good multi-effects like on the Deepmind and I wonder if there is a real added value on the UBXA by compared to the Deepmind 12 that I own ?
Had the UB-Xa for about a month. After many hours of playing it and programming it, I sold it to someone who was eagerly waiting for one and got an OB-X8 instead. I have an OB6 and was expecting the UB-Xa to sound at least as good, but for some unknown reason, it sounds a little dull next to it. Even with the Brighter Atrophy setting, and filter wide open with Filter Envelope Sustain and filter Modulation to the max, it doesn't sound as crisp and bright as the OB6 or OB-X8 (with OB-Xa CEM3320 filter). I understand that the UB-Xa doesn't have the SEM oscillators, but even next to a friend's PRO-800, which has the same V3340 chips (Cool Audio CEM3340 clone), it sounds a little less bright. That being said, if you don't have an OB6 or OB-X8 or PRO-800 next to it, you probably wouldn't notice. The UB-Xa is still a fantastic value that offers a lot! 16 voices, a mod matrix (which I'll surely miss), it's stereo with configurable panning (a big advantage), a solid casing, and complete control over many hidden parameters, and it can sound quite good, as demonstrated here with beautiful patches. Thanks for sharing.
@@retromograph3893 No, really? I've been playing analog synths since 1985 and owned many, and I still do. I think I know what I'm talking about, thanks.
@@AlainHubert Of course, i just always think it's really strange when people write off something because of some minor tonal difference that can easily be compensated with a little EQ.
I use 2x Oberheim Matrix 1000. Not that I wouldn't want the UB-Xa, but it simply doesn't sound like an Oberheim. It sounds very good, but not like an Oberheim.
@@sK3LeTvM1 I've owned one and it CAN sound like an Oberheim with careful patch programming. That's not why I didn't keep it. BTW, I also own a Matrix-6, from the last days of Oberheim in the eighties, and it doesn't sound much like an Oberheim either (blame it on too well-tuned DCOs)... My OB-6 blows it away as far as "Oberheim sound" goes, and of course my OB-X8 too. If you don't want to spend a fortune but still want to get a 16 voices Oberheim (minus a few annoying things), then the UB-Xa is a no-brainer!
Hi, I have problems with sending sysex patches from MIDI-OX to the UB-Xa. Receiving patches on MIDI-OX works fine also send & receive on Virus-KC and any other synt. Does someone know what can be wrong?
Hi, I have similar problem using sys-ex with sending back from UB-XA the individual patches, however works when sending bank ? Not a deal breaker but I hope that this be fixed with next update?
Best UBXA Demo I have come across so far on TH-cam... Thanks for that...
I desperately want to like this synth, but it always sounds generic.
It sounds digital and flat.
For the price you can get a used Dave Smith synth. This synth is not for you. You seem to know what sounds good and what sounds like trash. Cheers!
Don't agree, sounds very analog and nice. He's not a good player, that doesn't help.

Ever heard of something called an EQ? Two analog synths will never sound the same.

Cześć i mam pytanie :
Czy pod klawiszami są podklejone blaszki obciążające ?
jak tam ??
OK, w porządku

great selection of patches
Great seduction of patches. I am at the point of getting tempted.😂
What happened at 4:27, is the synth out of tune?
No, he just played the wrong note in the bass (major 7th). The second time round he plays the right note, the 3rd.
