Hi Dan, I am a 17 year co-worker with Erich Schroeder, Lynn's husband. He talked about you and sent me this link. Thanks for this, it means so much to Erich. I too am a woodworker but no lathe and not close to this skill level. Anyway, thanks for helping in a time of need.
Hi Brian, I'm so sorry to hear about Lynn's passing. I found her obit. However, I'm still trying to connect the dots on this. I'm guessing that someone was able to use my "cut list" from the video to create this urn. Is this correct? If so, I hope it was helpful.
An absolutely beautiful piece, Dan. The segmented body, the burl lid, the finial and the brass insert all came together perfectly. I like your shop assistant, too.
Hi Dan, segmented turning is something you have to do with passion. I see that in every second of your videos. You do a great job and I know what precise and hourtaking work is. This week I made a segmented sink, you can see that also on TH-cam. Best wishes Andreas
Wow, amazing! Had never heard of Purple Heart wood before; how beautiful that is. Watching you create is very relaxing. Hope this question is okay, but do urns come in sizes? People do come in different sizes... It would be an honor to have one’s ashes in such a well crafted urn such as this.
Hi Lynda, thank you. Yes, urns come in different sizes. Each pound is equal to one cubic inch of volume. Therefore, a 200 pound person after being cremated would require a 200 cubic inch urn.
Beautiful piece as always. I’m so glad I found your channel. I look forward to your videos each week. What program are you using to calculate the segments?
Wow. Your work is some of the nicest, most pleasing to the eye I've seen. I was noticing your lathe. Nova 1624II. What would be the difference between yours and say, a Grizzly GO462?
Thank you. I like my Nova very much. I just upgraded to the DVR motor. I'm not that familiar with the Grizzly, but I do think that both have a 16 swing distance over the bed.
Hi Dan, I am amazed about the esthetic of work. Question: do you have a calculator or software that you recommend? Thanks in advance and continue to inspire us
Lovely work! Did you use plumbing parts for the brass inserts or did you buy from R & M Crafts? If the former, is there a part name we should look for? Thanks
Please; Who supplied you brass rings? I am turning Pet Urns and don't like the Idea of plastic either. I also have to make my Mother's Urn still. Please help.
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft Well I can't find any one. I still have good news. I am going to learn how to make them myself. Already pick out a metal lathe.
When I learn how to make them; I'll let you know so you can buy a million from me. I case you do need one, you can let me know. Q; What was the Dia of you Brass Threads?
Hi Daniel, I'm afraid I haven't. I've got maybe three more and then after that I will most definitely need to find another source. The gentleman at fromwalnuttoantlers.com was very kind to me. But, unfortunately, he passed away.

@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft Hi I don't understand "able to us my cut list to create this urn". Are not making one for Erich?
Are you not making one for Erich I meant.
@@briansimmons5363 I haven't been contacted yet, but I certainly could if asked.
That is a beautiful piece. Certainly respectful.

Fantastic work. Congrats!!!!!
Nicely done with a perfect choice of contrasting woods.
Excellent. An urn I’d be proud to have my ashes in. 😉
Nice work Dan! I have been looking for brass inserts like you are using, can you tell me who the online supplier is? Thanks

Actually gluing up one today. You may have inspired a design change. Where did you source the brass?
Thanks for watching. Unfortunately, the gentleman who made those for me has passed away.
