I'll get "my good thing" in early: The way the OIL now are able to close out games when they have the lead. No more fire drills, tire fires, flaming bags of you know what. This new dimension has been around almost immediately after the coaching change. The total commitment to D; top to bottom. No cheating for offense at the expense of keeping goals out. Seeing 29 backcheck almost brings a tear to the eye. This streak is for real.
Desharnais’ puck management and movement is eons ahead of where it was when he arrived. To my eyes, he has been the better part of his pairing for a couple of months now.
@@Squishysforbreakfast no biggie if he doesn't ( I assume when you say 'sink the puck' , you mean 'score'... I'm not hip on what you kids lingo is these days).... same as Tendy, celly, bucket, the Mish... zzzzzz
Nice to see Desharnais getting some recognition. I brought him up in the last segment a couple days ago and received some pushback. Vinnie continues to improve especially with some puck sense not just blindly throwing it up ice for an interception like he was doing when he first came.
It will greatly help the Oilers if Kane continues to improve his play on Draisaitl’s line (as he is doing) and McLeod continues to play well at 3rd line center (as he did tonight). Holland will have less to look for on the trade front - and he will have more resources to devote to what the Oilers need (like a veteran goalie as a back up and maybe an extra defenseman in case of injury. If they sign Perry as a bottom 6 player, it will also help.) … Hyman is a charging bull - with great hands.
We can focus on Brown’s missed opportunity but the equally drought-stricken Cody Ceci missed a tap-in as did the mighty Connor McDavid. It was just that kind of game tonight. Anyway, 13 in the bag and a new Canadian team record!
Draisaitl was excellent- great back checking! And Kane is looking much better. McDavid is not shooting enough & in my view the team has a tendency at times to pass too much in the offensive zone. Of course, tonight’s score could have been much higher if it wasn’t for goaltending. BTW McDavid looks like Crosby out there… I think he’s playing like he knows he needs to, to win a Cup!
Mark my words - McDavid WILL NOT win the scoring title this year - he's focused on 'winning' period. He's playing like a man possessed on winning the cup - Drai is the playing the same way. Both will finish in top 10 in scoring as they can't help it - but this is how you win the Cup in today's era - playing a team game!
They all look possessed last night. I can see that fire in the Oiler's lineup. Every game is a must win with defence and goaltending. Seems to me like the Oilers are practicing on each opponent, layering up their skills getting ready for the playoffs. 😲😲
The haters always said he's a one dimensional player. Obviously with his insane skills that was never true but finally a coaching system has brought him to center. He realizes he can help win games without scoring. No points by McDavid or Draisaitl and a convincing win.
Refs must have bet for the flames to win. Hyman penalty, the player skated into him backwards and he wasn’t even facing the player! “Picked off by a stray bullet”😂 “The puck hit it like a magnet” 🤣 It’s so true! He needs some tutor shooter practice ‘cause he doesn’t know how to finish. Does anyone else come and wait for Bruce to crack them up? Thanks for the rundown every game gentlemen.
Said it other pods so pardon me, (since 79 vintage btw) but hey it was COH that kept me engaged in the horrible years. We used to be the most exciting team in the nhl. No longer. Early But we might be the best one!
They are playing great. Just a reminder they had done this or something close to this for Todd, Dave, Jay and now Coach K for a period of time but then revert back to how they want to play. Let's hope they have learned lessons with 3 coach firings due to their stubbornness and unwillingness to play a req system. With that said it is impressive and the best they have played.
If anyone needs to blur their background, it's Dave... Lol. Bruce's shelves actually contain books. Anyway, sloppy game but puck luck and/or the hockey 'gods' have kept them rolling.
And Dave, I dunno if that's mold up in the corner behind you, but the fact you're always stuffed up and coughing down there, is a problem you really, really need to address man. Just a heads up.
PKS? He must be asleep before OIL games start lately. He can't be serious. ...no respect for PKS after hearing of this. His comments do not stand even minimal scrutiny.
I actually couldn't disagree more about the penalizing the big man in the playoff comment in the playoffs around the 9:30 mark of the video. It's 100% the exact opposite and BIG D are the most dominant in the playoffs because they don't call big tough man plays. Hedman Pronger Chara Blake Robinson
Is relatively new to the league. Vets and the Legends you listed tend to get the calls. Also, the game and rules have changed a lot since those guys days of clutch and grab open ice hits and elbows. Also, just look at Hedman's PIMs he has 2x as many in 2009 and 2010 seasons than he has now. He didn't get the calls early in his career either.
@@TH-tl6sy Sad, but true.... when Crosby, Mcdavid first came in... TOTALLY no respect from the refs.... same thing with Bedard. Not sure why.... my theory is... I would imagine all the refs played junior hockey (couldn't get drafted) and maybe a little envious/jealous of the elite players, so it's..." What ya got". Too bad.

Nicely done.
Shakey Willsespeare strikes again.
That was beautiful. 👏👏
Not only poetic but captures the essence of the game last night. Kudos ❤

Yep, the focus I believe is there because of how the season started. This team is disciplined and patient.
I can't believe how much this team has changed. It almost makes me long for the "good ol' freewheelin'" days of recent past...ALMOST...
Desharnais’ puck management and movement is eons ahead of where it was when he arrived. To my eyes, he has been the better part of his pairing for a couple of months now.
He's matured so much in the last little while... you're bang on.
Don't hear the play by play mention him much... good sign.
He's way more confident in his abilities than last year.
The coaching changed helped that, I hope he starts sinking the pucks too.

Vinny has been playing with his strengths. And he's reminding me of Chara.
Nice to see Desharnais getting some recognition. I brought him up in the last segment a couple days ago and received some pushback. Vinnie continues to improve especially with some puck sense not just blindly throwing it up ice for an interception like he was doing when he first came.

How did Oilers make the Record Win Streak even Sweeter??
They beat the flames to get it!! 🔥
Ekholm is showing Bouchard how to jump into the offense zone when McDavid circle around with the puck.
He has 3 great scoring chances tonight.

Anyway, 13 in the bag and a new Canadian team record!
The ice looked bad tonight
Gagne might want to consider taking up billiards as a trick shot artist.
The OIlers earlier this year seemed cursed. There was no way they could have that much bad luck. Now they're getting some lucky bounces.
Draisaitl was excellent- great back checking! And Kane is looking much better.

PK obviously hasn't watched an Oilers hockey game in about 2 months
Why anyone listens to the guy I do not know.
Thank you again for great post game commentary 😊
Kudos to Bruce for The Planes, Trains and Automobiles connection with the Dawson City team.
‘Papa clutch’ gags with the winner! Crazy goal
The most famous quote spoken by every NHL goalie in the 2023-2024 season..."shit my net's wide open..oh it's just Brown."
LOL...in the run for "best comment ever" on this channel...
Brown's shot in the perfect spot was comical.
It has to be a weird goal when he finally scores, not a clean one.
You're right, it'll make Gagne's goal look thought out.
Bruce was like a comedian at some moments here.

1) I'm sure nobody cares what PK has to report, ask Messier and Chelios.
PK knows a thing or two about being easy to play against. He never changed his game.

Oh, and as good as Vladar was, he sure likes to whine.
And yes, refs sucked as always.

Just a heads up.
If Spec and Staples could just get yeeted out of Edmonton media that would be amazing.
13 staight wins! thats fucking Banana's!
Remember when Elkhom said they needed to learn how to manage and win these types of games
Power the F$ PUCK!

Will the real edmonton oilers please stand up😅
P.K. he must be about 5 weeks behind in the games! lol......... who cares
