- Hi guys,
this time I am having a wonderful new lovely experience, my young cat joins me at my hiking & wild camping trip. Things are not necessarily easier (cat dissapears, cat wants to move very slowly, cat is afraid of dogs... 😄), but cuter 🥰

To be fair most cat's don't really run away (at least in my experience). If you're with them they tend to follow you around.
*edit: it might be different if they're in an unfamilliar place, I don't know
I hike with my cats without leashes too. They are definitely slow. I have to wait while they climb trees. I haven't tried backpacking yet.

That is incredible. I suggest to people saying oh yould use a leash rather you marvel and respect the fact she doesn't need to. My cat and I are very envious.

@@immeontour9980 Definitely! He sometimes rides in a carrier behind my bike or in a pack if it gets hot. He follows me everywhere! 😊
About a thousand years ago when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and rocks were still soft, I had two female cats who liked to go hiking with me. They loved anything to do with getting out of our apartment and going somewhere, including just taking my husband to the local airport or picking him up as he traveled for business back then. Mine were harness and leash trained but they often didn't really need either. I'd often let the leashes trail behind them once we got far away enough from roads and other people. It's a slow way to hike but I was always a slow hiker anyway. You kind of get into a rhythm with them where you subconsciously keep an eye and ear out for what the cats are doing as you're walking or if you stop to look for something. I miss those two but that was a very long time ago.

I had a cat that used to follow me around in the woods for a mile or so. Did the same thing. Go play off in bushes terrorizing chipmunks. Always came along in its own time. Never took it off on a hike away from home though. Would be too worried about it.
Well I also always started hiking from home.. luckily I live surounded by nature and mountains. I want to try taking him on a trip on a completely different location one time :)

I would love to do this but I'd be so afraid of my kitty running away or getting lost
to the emotional detriment of free walking cat owners, I've seen this happen several times on youtube

he came from Dubai, very traumatized. I got her after he spent 7 month in a box. Since he is with me, he has not been in a city, only here with me in the Black Forest :)
She should also have a tracker on the cat.
Do you ever take her* on your shoulder like a pirate and his parrot? :D That might speed things up.

Did you say he was roaming outside all night? :O I'm only saying because i wouldn't have the nerve for this myself. Foxes and what not. Love the video though and i'm just curious. Thing is, when i think of going with a cat, i even fear that the presence of the cat might attract wild animals who would otherwise stay away. Hope you have time to share your take on it...
😂 yes.. I am sometimes like this fearful mom regarding my cat. But he grew up in Dubai being a wild cat. He really knows how to survive and defend himself...

You must get a leash. You will lose him. That would be awful
He hates leashes, but I will try a gps sensor around his neck. He is not really leaving my side during hiking, only at night I might be worried where he is..
It should be on a lead and have a safe enclosure when you set up camp. The cat could get lost or hurt. Irresponsible. Every other camper who travels with cats has a lead.
The cat is a wild cat from Dubai, from the streets. He knows to survive in nature better than anyone else. Also he loves me and returns to me because he loves the freedom I give him. I do not know wether the cat would return to me, if he gets a leash.. I tried once, he panicked a lot and it took me some time to calm him.. he gets a gps tracker sometimes though
@@immeontour9980 Dubai is very different to The US. Last I looked there was no nature or bush on the streets of Dubai .
