Hi Roger, in the exam question I think that I’m right in saying that presupposition isn’t relevant when when discussing why Strawson believes the given sentence doesn’t have a truth value, as it isn’t the function of the sentence to do so. I have discussed it however in regards to Russell’s approach to the question, in order to show that even when the sentence is being used to make an assertion that Russell’s reliance on entailment is (arguably) wrong. Does this sound like a sound structure?
Hi Sean. Well, as I say in the video, Strawson never actually uses the term 'presupposition', so it's certainly possible to explain his views/arguments without using the term yourself. That's up to you. I can't really answer your question, though, because I can't tell from what you've told me what the actual structure of your answer would be. (And I'm not going to comment on a draft of your exam answer--see the Exam FAQ on Canvas for what I'm generally expecting in a good exam answer, and feel free to ask me questions about the content as opposed to questions about your answer.)
