Ultra low head water turbine. Requires no fossil fuels or electricity. Recycled junk.

Absolutely love it! I am wanting to make a water turbine to partially power our house that we plan to build later this year. I only have a few feet of head, maybe 3 unless I build a dam further upstream then I might be able to get 4 or 5 feet if I'm lucky. But I'm estimating about 1500 GPM of flow. Anyway, I absolutely love your pump setup, even if I'm wanting to generate electric rather than pump water. 🙂

Just found out about this in the Water Wheel Pumps facebook group. I definitely recommend the video. Some parts were way to technical for me and I skipped over them. First part does not have audio, but one audio section starts at 3 minutes in. Be sure to watch to the end where you will definitely know why John did this project to protect his property. Wow.

This would translate well to power generation. Also the amount of head you can achieve with this is far above any other free energy pumps I've seen out there.
Well done. I personally could use a system like this as I have a creek with good consistent flow (700+ gpm) but only about 10 feet of drop through my property. I do have 285 ft of elevation on my property so being able to move water uphill in this manner would be beneficial. Are you considering making the plans available for this? And thanks for the video.

Thanks for the comment. As for plans, unfortunately I didn't make any. It was built more by a educated a trial by error method. In fact I redid this pump this year as I am living between to massive, uncontrolled forest fires. My brother and I modified it so the shaft exits the top of the pipe. It made a considerable improvement on efficiency. It will now pump 18 GPM, 250 feet up. It has enough extra pressure at the top to run 3 rainbirds.
For a test we installed a permanent magnet washing machine motor as an alternator and it puts out 500 watts.
Your site would require different dimensions. How far you have to run, to get the ten feet of head is critical. Skimp on the size of pipe and you will lose a lot of your available power. As you work on this I would be glad to try and answer any questions you might have.
