The KT Chinatown is one of the oldest Chinese settlements in Malaysia..some say it's even older than those in Malacca or Penang. You can take the water taxi near the Riverside cost only rm15 for 1 hour ride along the river. The boat will stop for photo sessions at the drawbridge and Crystal mosque and ply through local fishing village of Pulau Duyong. Take your time to enjoy my hometown..some of the best places are located outskirts of the centre though, you may get Grab - relatively cheap. Highlights: 1) State Museum Large museum complex which houses different galleries and exhibitions. Latest attraction here is the Cultural Village, a living museum of local, traditional village of each districts in Terengganu. You can also see old houses collection and the unique architecture as well as traditional boats. 5km from City centre (Grab) 2) Pasar Payang (the big market you shown) Local market where you can find food and snacks, traditional crafts such as batik, songket etc. There's also foodcourt outside of the market. 3) Floating Mosque Built on stilts to give the impression of it being "floating" on water. You can also find a recreational beach and park nearby. 4) Pulau Redang Tropical paradise island, around 1.5hrs from the KT jetty. Advance booking recommended for accommodation. 5) Pulau Kapas Closer to the main land, you can take a 10minute boat ride from Marang Jetty to this small beautiful island. 18km from KT (bus available for rm3 at the KT bus station) 6) Lake Kenyir Large man made lake which now became a natural habitat for many fishes and wild animals as well as hosting few beautiful waterfalls and caves to be explored. Also there's an Elephant conservation village nearby. 50km from KT
Food to look for in Terengganu: A) Keropok Lekor - local fish sausage, either fried or steamed. Best eaten with the provided homemade chilli dipping. B) Nasi Dagang - a typical breakfast dish, comprised of fragrant rice and local tuna curry as well as pickled cucumber. A must in Terengganu. C) Nasi Lemak Terengganu - while nasi lemak is widely available in Malaysia, we have our own version of it in Terengganu, comes with fish sambal instead (sweet and less spicy compared to other sambal) D) Sata - a mixture of fish, coconut and chilli dish, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled on skewers for that nice smoky aroma. E) Laksam - a type of noodle dish, only available in the East Coast.

Also you might wanna try this Malaysian dessert.
