  • This is my user impressions and review on the new Pulsar Axion 2 LRF XQ35. I've had this device in real world conditions for around 40 hours so far. It's an excellent little thermal scanner and well worth considering if your in the market for a device with an inboard laser rangefinder (LRF). This isn't a "how to" video with boring unboxing and basic menu function explanations. This is my handle on the Axion 2 LRF XQ35 as a shooter and user.
    Big thanks Pulsar in Europe and Extravision in Australia for sending me the new Axion to play with. Without support from companies who are proactive in the hunting industry like this, these video's are mostly not possible with the speed tech is evolving.
    If you are interested in a thermal or night vision device in Australia, have a chat with Ben from Hunt the Night.

    Appreciate the unbiased and honest review, they´re getting hard to find these day´s as many reviewers receive the products they´re reviewing for free..
    Is it true though that the actual recorded image quality we´re seeing here (from the units sd card) is only roughly about 60% in clarity, as to what is seen through the actual device itself ? I think I heard or read that somewhere..

    Ya thermal snob bastard! LOLZ! Now, to be serious. Thanks for the full disclosure. I feel the win-win provides excellent opportunities for the manufacturer to improve their product based on you and other folks in the club giving these units some real-world testing. Professional feedback is priceless. I'm interested in getting a thermal scope/imager for use in my photography. I reckon that when I get back into the rainforest I could use one to find tree kangaroos and other animals in the forest at night, and maybe even in daytime in full canopy rainforest. As you can tell, I have no idea how thermal works in daylight but yeah, I could use a thermal camera/finder.

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I reckon you could use one for that absolutely. So long as the UV under the canopy is low the animals should stand out. Humidity would be an issue but if its just detection then bino's you might be on a winner.

    Thanks good review. I’ve just bought my first thermal at $2000, no names. I’m very impressed and also a little disappointed. It seems after just a few minutes of use my eye is totally or very nearly so, night blind. The thermal eye completely unable to see detail I can clearly see with the other eye. I can go from very bright daylight to very dim and recover in a very short time, maybe a minute or 2. But the thermal leaves one eye blind for many minutes. Is this typical, is it avoidable. No issues after being in artificial light. Can you comment please.

      Pro's and con's to each. The FH35R has a better image, it should being 640x512 12um resolution. But I like the Pulsar colour palettes and build a little more. FH35R vs Axion 2 LRF XG35 will be an interesting comparison.

    I have the xq35. I have mixed feelings. I like the solid feel, size and weather resistant construction. Lots of options on the menu.... But, why a bright green led light near buttons that is always on?? Certainly couldn't use this in shtf situation as u could be seen a mile away not to mention no eye cup options so light spills everywhere. Image quality for video/pics poor quality. Occasionally trouble downloading pictures and videos from xq35 to phone even with good connection, up to date firmware, new Pixel 6a fully updated.... Many times shot video and later found it couldn't be viewed either by download (wouldn't download) or on device. Keep in mind I was able to view other files.... Lately been having trouble with settings being saved after exiting the menu ( contrast/Brightness). Also can't find the file folder on the phone for downloads. Not sure why not given an option for easier access. Location of tripod mount terrible. Lens cap for objective lens not included. The box I received had charging brick with type c USB connector however the cable included was type c and A so couldn't use .... Not sure I would buy again? I certainly would have bought scope instead and wish I could have tried ATN MONOCULAR. I have nothing else to compare it to. ..

      Glad you enjoy the iAiming 👍. Take the ProStaff shit out of it. I own the Thermion I run, cold hard cash. After using all the other alternatives available, bar the GSCI. For what I do, there's nothing as complete in all aspects.

      All thermals are effected by environment conditions such as this.

    I have an old schoolmate who, and okay, have a laugh, is involved with a group who head out into the forests on the QLD/NSW border to search for Yowies. They invested in a thermal camera and captured some footage that is hard to explain. They would do well to invest in something with better resolution than they were using. They did describe the camera they used but I can't remember what it was and I'm too tired to hunt down the TH-cam video. I'm a skeptic but knowing this bloke, I can't see him as being the hoaxer type. (5-minutes-later) I found the video. You can make your own conclusions. th-cam.com/video/sx5WUzzgrfY/w-d-xo.html

    Even though Thermal are a “no-go” for most hunting up here in the Great Northern Land I still appreciate your opinion and reviews!
