I have a theory about that. I believe Ratledge poured his soul into "Teeth" off the Softs' _Fourth_ album and, for whatever reason, felt defeated by how it turned out. I can't imagine why else he would have retired it from live performances after firing Robert Wyatt. Even though some of my favorite of his works came along afterward, nothing he wrote from _Five_ on was nearly as sophisticated or reaching.
Absolutely gorgeous. I love these chaps' DeWolff compositions. Thank you so much for posting.
Mike Ratledge and I rest my case.
Dopenesss 💯
Reminds me of Nintendo 64 water levels. But in 12/8 of course.
Makes sense, really. Early videogame composers were for the most part big progheads and jazz fans
THIS TRACK FEATURED IN THE INTASUN HOLIDAY BROCHURE CAMPAIGN OF 1983 or 84

Lovely tune i wonder what year this came out?!?
1981
Ratledge were a great musician. I think more than Karl Jenkins...but he was less ambitious.
