I love the classics but since you turned me on to the DH I've been addicted. They float like a dream and for some reason the trout seem to prefer that impressionistic body. Great dry flies. Thanks for bringing this fly out of the shadows.
I did enjoy it, Davie... thank you. I'm intending to tie some Dynamite Harry flies this winter. I'm going to add this one to the list, though I don't know if can be better than your original Autumn Dun I've been using for years now. Will see. Mike
Thanks Davie, I've definitely become a firm DH convert thanks to you.. Re your comment, I do think the various FM packs of yarns have far too much material for the average tyer; we're not knitting jumpers with it after all. Its very costly to acquire a selection, and most of it will hang about for decades unused in folks drawers. That's not good environmentally, for one thing. Something I do appreciate, though, is the hooks being in 50s - I think that's very sensible. I used to, still do, use a lot of Tiemco hooks - but those little boxes of 20, which would happily hold hundreds, really are a nonsense. And unacceptable in these days while we're destroying the planet. There needs to be a change of mindset I think, and anglers, angling suppliers, should be at the forefront of it. Don't mean to be grumpy - love the superb videos, thanks again! Roger

Hi Davie, I really enjoyed watching your recent “Lucky Friday 13th” trout fishing session. Thanks for sharing the DH Autumn Dun pattern, as the Brownies were really attracted to them. I will definitely be tying a few of these for my Fly Box. Regards, Wayne 😀👍
After having watched the video and enjoyed as usual. Like many others I am a DH convert so as per usual, sat at the vice and tied 6 in a couple of sizes. So I thought to myself I wonder if you could tie DH style fiery brown hoppers, so I tied up some in 14’s and this morning had an hour down the club water and they were fantastic, four good fish in 90 minutes. Ended up giving the flies I had left to some of the old guys when I was going. Will definitely be tying some more up. Tied the legs in before I posted, sit great on the ripple and trout loved them. Something different for the lochs. 😊

That is a really nice pattern. But that box ... that's a beautiful little case that's seen some water! I'm a little jealous of the treasures in there.
