    Curious on what lenses to grab for DSLR video? Here are FIVE of them! :D
    *Feel free to thumbs up/share if you enjoyed!*

      ***** Great video :) I have a question, dont you want the 35mm video for the cinematic film look? But if I get the Rokinon doesn't my Crop Factor of 1.7 makes it nearly a 60mm?! Or am I wrong ...

    • @anish_r
      @anish_r 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** what would be a cheap but goo lens?

    • @TLD
      @TLD  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrozenSkiller It was a recommendation over the 50mm which most people get and it makes a 85mm in that case

    • @FrozenSkiller
      @FrozenSkiller 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      *****
      Is for the cinematography guy not the goal to get the the real 35mm focal length? Was I right with what I wanted to say? Because I was looking for a good lens for filmmaking.

    • @AshTailor
      @AshTailor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrozenSkiller By any chance are you referring to the sensor? Most look to achieve a true 35mm sensor to shoot on which is based on traditional film :)

      i guesssss !

    • @UberGooose
      @UberGooose 9 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Daniel Mezquita The lens is by far more important than the camera. A top of the line camera with a crappy lens is going to give you crappy results. Also, Cameras become obsolete after a few years whereas lenses outlive them! Invest in glass as you'll live with it a lot longer :)

    • @TalesOfWar
      @TalesOfWar 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Daniel Mezquita How it should be. The lens will last you several bodies. A good lens will still be good in 10-20 years time. Good luck having a body that long. Unless you still shoot film maybe.

    You're not kidding about needing a 35mm on a crop sensor camera. I got a Nikon Series E 50mm pancake for my D3200. It's a fantastic lens in most situations and dirt cheap (£50 or about $75) but it's pretty much useless in enclosed spaces.

    I use the Sigma Art zoom on my Canon 5D full frame camera all the time.
    It does vignette a little, but the image is SOOO sharp that I can easily crop out the vignette in post and still have plenty of quality pixels to play with.
    Everybody on the web says its for APS-C sensors, but how many of them have actually tried it on a full frame camera? probably 1 out of 100. Also the 50-100 works well on my 5D too. Some shots dont need to be cropped if you dont mind soft vignette. But again, still PLENTY of sharpness to punch in and work with.

      BallinWang While he were zooming, the focus stayed on the object. Maybe he used a parfocal lens, but I don't think so. Probably that's a lot of practice.

    I just hate how expensive lenses are. Even the ones that are "a fraction of the price" of the more expensive ones, they're more than I can chuck out for just a lens. The entry point is quite high.

    I'm gonna go for a Rokinon Cine Lens, but I still can't decide what focal length I should choose. All three, the 24mm, 35mm, and 85mm seem like excellent choices.

    Question, prime lenses aside, do the zoom lenses allow you to use a lanc controller for zooming. The ones you showcased, in particular.
    Reason I ask is because I went with Nikon and a Metabones Speedbooster, which has no electronic connection.. I'm starting to think I should have went with Canon and dropped an extra $150 on that other speedbooster.

    Jonathan, how do I know if Im on a full frame or "cropped frame" on a Canon T3i (600D)?
    - Also Im lookin for a "go to lens" for video mostly. does the 2.8 Sigma have like 360 degree focus range? or does it focus in like a 1/4 turn? 3) is the focal ring toward the front or the back of the lens? The lens I have now its at the front and I cannot use it with my mattebox and filters. 4) is the f stop "de clicked"?
