- Here's a drum cover from Chaka Khan.
The original track was played by Steve Ferrone, my favourite drummer! I'm trying to play this song note for note as Ferrone recorded it and I hope it feels at least half as good as the original.
There's some Steve's signature fills that you can hear on his other recordings from that time (like 1:17). Here's my transcription of this song if you are interested learning it bit.ly/2rbRfHN
When doing these covers it's always nice to think that I'm playing live at the recording session with the best cats in the world like Anthony Jackson and Michael Brecker etc and I have to be at the same level as these guys...maybe some day :)
I'm playing Brady Spotted Gum drums, Brady 14x5,5 Jarrah Block snare and Zildjian cymbals in this video.

I had no idea this was Steve Ferrone on the original track. Such an amazing drummer, love his work on Tom Petty's Wildflowers album.
Yeah, Ferrone also plays on Average White Band version of this song. You can see a clip of that if you watch my 360 Band live video. I sat at the front table about 3 metres from Ferrone. That was a real drum lesson for me!
