I appreciate this video, I kinda went into the game knowing which classes I wanted to play, but upon replaying with a different alignment in mind I got overwhelemed at the selection and have had trouble deciding. I also appreciate that you mention like having fun rather than solely focusing on min maxing
Me too, disappointed that the 'guide' quickly deteriorated in to just reading out what was on screen with no explanation e.g 7:05 You get Grand discovery. Great! Err, what is it? And then he started skipping things and seemed to be learning what things were as he went through the dialogs: 8:18 'dada dada da'?
I really appreciate this video, just an overview of all the classes from someone who knows and understands the basics. I can pick a class that sounds like fun based on this video and then look for something that goes into more depth. Could've done without the loud coughing though.
For me, I sort of regret going down the Fighter line because I got both a Tower Shield Fighter and a Barbarian companion along with Lindzi. I think having access to different abilities might have been more useful. For example, there's a chest in the abandoned hut I couldn't open, some swarm enemies in a cave that were really annoying to deal with without fire potions (and the ones he gives you for free run out pretty quick), someone who maybe could have learned a spell to remove fear (a completely broken spell enemy's cast on you this early on imo), etc. Having so many pure melee users was not helpful. Granted this is probably an early-game problem, but that's also one of the hardest parts of the game. I find that I don't have many ways to deal with the challenges. There's so much over-leveled enemies too scattered everywhere - it's kind of a nightmare to do it blind - and just missing attacks so much feels bad.
I feel your pain. At default difficulty settings it feels like you have to cheese the game or build a specific team. Don't feel bad about turning down the difficulty so you can play the game the way you like.
I also picked fighter, I definitely regretted not playing a wizard at first because I figured that the game would give you a pure classed wizard, since that's pretty standard for CRPGs. Later on once I got gold to spend on mercs this was less of a problem. I would have had the same problem if I had gone with my second or third pick, bard and cleric respectively, but for a slightly different reason, instead of having a mediocre fighter and mediocre barbarian (I don't think either of them are as bad as some guides say, but I could still build a better fighter or barb without really trying) I would be either outclassed or on par with the NPCs Not saying Linzi or either cleric is minmaxed, they aren't, and there's things you could do in character creation to get more out of the classes, but they're very good at their role, so there's no point in doubling up.

"Class guide" - Such an awesome 'guide' that doesnt go in depth AND just tells me what I can already read, incredibly useful for those who play this games who are unable to read for all others: Not so much. I appreciate the work you but into this but as you said you are about "midgame" in your own campaign and I much rather have a guide made by a veteran who had multiple playthroughs and actually knows what he is doing and doesnt have to read the abilities themselves to tell me what they are doing. I mean seriously, you mumble about what the ability does and then tell me "it basically does that". No sh*t I can read that. What I want toknow in a "guide" is: How does i play? Which classes you can pair it well with? Which skills combine well? How do I play said class effectively? Your guide didnt even tell me what the difference between the druid base class has to sacrifice to get feymagic!
At the time of making this I had 100 hours in game. That's not bad for giving beginner advice. Is there a specific class you would like build advice for? I heard you mention Druids.
You do realize that I can have a negative opinion on something without being a "hater". I gave concrete reasons as to why I think it's not a great guide IMO. Ok so after watching this guide why dont you tell me which feats work well with for example an archeologst bard? No information ? How about attributes? Spells? Class combinations? Anythign else except what you can already read?
a class "guide"? I would assume you already knew at least SOMETHING about the classes, if i wanted to be presented a read-slideshow i'd be back in school
Not necessarily, many of us are familiar with the core rulebook classes but not the ones that came out in the splatbooks. More helpful though is the way he explains the archetypes, for some of us with the UI it's hard to decipher how the archetypes differ from the base class.
