  • A quick recording last night on my spinet, of a set of variations on Thomas Arne's tune from 1740. This arrangement was published in 1794. ****** Please Like, Share and Subscribe ******
The instrument is a 2009 copy by Stephen Robinson of the Thomas Hitchcock spinet in the Russell Collection in Edinburgh. I was inspired to learn this after hearing a CD recording of Timothy Roberts playing the same piece, on a friend's original Haxby spinet.
There doesn't seem to be much information anywhere about Casson - all I can find is in the CD sleeve notes which indicate: "Casson also wrote music for the traditionally aristocratic harp, and it may well be that he was one of London's numerous immigrants from post-revolutionary France".
The score (as well as lots of other interesting music), is available from NotAmos performing editions: www.notamos.co...

Very kind of you to say! I really like the piece. Casson seems to have done a few arrangements. The NotAmos website is a good source for unusual music. I will have another look at your channel when I get a minute too.

I didn’t realise I wasn’t subscribed! An oversight. I have just added your channel to my subscriptions.

@@RalphLooij I am really enjoying your channel! Very inspiring. Do you use a large pedal board, or is it something more compact, like the keyboard? I used to play Hammond Organs but all of them were a bit bulky. I never played pedals, but I can see having a home setup like yours would be a great way to learn to play church organ. The sounds are incredible.

@@chrissansum full pedal. You play harpsichord very well, so organ should be no problem for you.
