Story 1: I grew up in Phoenix, AZ. I know very well about the rock hard, clay soil. We sometimes had to use a pickaxe to get through the top layers of soil. 😅
Just a kind fyi...Gila Monster is pronounced Hila Monster.
    Great storytelling.

I appreciate you very much & thankyou for letting me know you at least enjoyed the content and stories. I definitely mispronounce things constantly so thankyou as well for informing me ! Normally it's just someone just correcting me and I never know if they at least enjoyed the stories ? Lol

@@BoozeandBoosand I appreciate you saying what you did. Whenever I comment and let a narrator know about the correct pronunciation of a word I always try to make sure they know I have no intention of being rude by doing so and that I enjoyed the video (if I did of course) and often get no feedback so it's good to know that's how you feel about it. I also would want to know if I made a mistake pronouncing a word but would want the person to be kind doing so!

@@BoozeandBoosoh and I wouldn't say you "constantly" mispronounce words because that's not true and you do so far less often than many other narrators...and that's not just me saying that because I definitely notice!

Whenever I find myself in Indian land where I hike I always say a prayer to the effect that I am acknowledging that I am on their land and I am respecting it. I just tell the First Nations forest spirits that I come in peace and I thank them for letting me be on their land. Especially if it's on ancient burial grounds and such. We have plenty of Wendigo legends and Trickster spirits tales here in Canada.

Yep the good old days, I'm glad I got to grow up before smart phones and social media, once Instagram started, people's habits and self centeredness just went hay wire.
When I was in high school, having a Nokia cell phone was rare at thr end if 10th grade, by senior year most people had them but not smart phones and no one swiping their phone every 30 minutes all day every day and not going outside whenever possible going on adventures, and thinks being safe and people leave u alone if ur out being a kid, no body called the police when kids are just exploring in pastures and building forts in the forest, ( biggest reason is because people didn't vandalize and steal and disrespect their elders whether they are perfect stranger's or not), u didn't see people in bikinis taking pictures of themselves posing and having their beastie take gram photos if their butt being their every 5 posts.
I'm glad I got to be a kid and enjoy being young and my friends and associates were normal and not completely self centered.
Worried about what their Instagram make believe reputation is, making a picture collage depicting you are living this fabulous life and your doing better than everyone else in life,
What I loved about being in elementary school and middle school, society in my area, was not concerned about what kind of car ur dad drove or ur mom drove or if ur house was fully remodeled and u got a bunch of flat-screen and laminate flooring, we drive a big orange van with rooster takes made of rust spraying up over each fender well, muffler was broken and the thing could be heard from 5 blocks away, literally, we could hear our dad coming home from over a Mile away the way the road was above our house and the way the pasture land left the top main road visible about one or two miles away and we would have a 5 minute warning that dad was coming home so we could stop doing whatever we are not supposed to be doing, break up any fights between us brothers and clean up any evidence of hitting each other and get rid if anything we broke or hide it until we can fix it, or put his tools away as quick as possible and get the dog out if the house and start pretending like we were sweeping the garage or pulling the lawn mower out

Best scary story video I've heard in a while.

  • @atarxieu
    @atarxieu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think the scariest part of this video is at 3:36 because as a studying herpetologist, Gila (pronounced Ge-ya) monsters are NOT poisonous. They’re venomous. The difference? Poison is ingested (consumed) whilst venom is injected (like a vaccine shot) - (this is important because venom needs a specific anti venom and can’t be treated or often detected by poison labs and medicine). Also they are nicknamed the suicide lizard due to the fact their venom isn’t fatal BUT the pain caused by their venom often causes people to commit or want to commit suicide because it is absolute torture. They’re also extremely protected so don’t be stupid and say “Oh JuSt KiLl It” because if you kill a Gila monster and are found killing one you will be put in jail because of how protected they are. And an added bonus fun fact is that despite snakes which have specialized holes in their fangs to allow venom to flow from the glands behind their eyes into you, Gila monsters, and many other venomous lizards for that matter have specialized grooves in their teeth in which they bite down and chew into your skin, as this happens it presses down on the gums which allows the venom to flow out and slowly seem into your skin allowing for a more nasty bite as they have cone like teeth meant for tearing flesh!

Hey, just an FYI here...wanted to let you know (though you might not care) i really appreciate your choice of background sound in this video . The volume level is perfect to me...just noticeable and not so loud that it is annoying, overwhelming or that it takes away from the storytelling by being distracting (even some of the most popular channels with tons of subscribers employ stupid sounding noise, screams or other fake BS in the background...i can think of 2 specifically right off the top of my head that everyone is familiar with). Thanks for that!
I will mention it in a more recent video so maybe you will be more likely to see this comment!

For story 2, I always wonder why people willing put themselves in the we kinds of situations. *If you f_ck around, you will find out!* I don’t care what you believe or don’t believe in, but you’ve got eyes n ears. You can see something’s wrong. You can hear and feel it too. If disturbing the dead isn’t a priority for you, fine. However, you’ve gotta worry about running into A) Another person or B) a wild animal
And of course they would be silly enough to do this shit at night and not tell anyone else where they’re going. Glad the people are okay but DAMN!

I enjoy the stories but I have an issue with the continuing "doom" music playing throughout. It's becoming increasingly popular but it's not something I can stand for long. Sorry.
