Lovely film Rob and Rock Candy was a good back track and as usual a gentle edit. This brought back memories of The opening of the Albert Dock. m.v. Wincham was the first vessel back in the Dock run by Cpt John Temple (senior river Pilot) and volunteers from the Friend's , we constructed scaffolding to support the very large Johannes touring concert organ on deck and motored into the Dock playing the Monty Python theme whilst the engine sent smoke rings in time. As Chief Engineer I was operating the engine and did 255 engine manoeuvres over the two hours. The air whistle was deafening but most satisfying to see the dignitaries jump. m.v. Wincham was originally with the ICI Mones fleet, Cuddington her sister vessel is in Ellesmere Port. The preservation society also ran the Brocklbank Tug on behalf of the Friends of the Maritime Museum and the 'Edith May' Thames barge for the Arrowcroft croup who did the refurbishment of the Albert Dock. m.v. Wincham Built 1948 by Yarwoods yard Northwich. 300 Tons 100 ' Length. The engine was a Crossley Premier HRL4 a Two Stroke Direct reversing super-scavenged Diesel engine, 40 to 340 RPM Compressed air start. Original cargo Soda Ash to and from ICI Northwich, sadly Wincham was broken up 2010. ? To the old crew I wish fair winds. The organ
