Insomnia is a rotten condition. You don't realize how valuable sleep is until you can't do it, and suddenly everything becomes so much more difficult. Hope Jukka is doing better now. We still miss him.
Tuomas said that Jukka is doing very well, not suffering from insomnia anymore, but he can't return to performing because he fears that it will return, and he is probably right about it
Jukka Nevalainen is the guy who inspired me to play drums. He's my hero. There will never be another Jukka. He helped me to overcome a lot of depression and is the reason Nightwish is my favorite band. I don't think I was ever able to tell him "Thank You", and I would do almost anything to have the ability to thank him in person. His kindness and motivation and words to me, telling me to "never stop" are one of the only reasons I'm still here with us. Maybe one day I'll get to tell him my story. But until then, THANK YOU JUKKA NEVALAINEN

This was the song that introduced me into nightwish. And the metal music by a further scope. My mother had just married another man and I was upset. Before I had access to 80's rock at best, but mostly classical music. Which wasn't bad! I still love classical music, but a 13 year old experiencing a divoce needs someting more powerful. And it all started with this song. It quickly went so Slipknot and stuff, angry teenager and so on, but Nightwish is still one of my favourites. Toumas Holopainen, you are a true composer. Not a songwriter, not a musician. A composer. Thank you for being there for so much of my life.

Me too. When I remember how much I begged my parents to buy me drums. I was so obsessed with Jukka at that time I even copied what his wearing. And I wear beard like his to this day.
Picking up the drums and throwing them at the drumsticks is certainly an unconventional way to play them. That would take a lot of skill. Let me know how that works out when your trying your first drum solo haha. :)

I never heard of Nightwish before. Until May of 2020. Since then, I have bought every album. And i even have a Floor Jansen benie. That i wear everyday to work. I even bought a ticket for the upcoming tour of the Uk in Cardiff. But it got cancelled. So me being a fan. I bought my ticket for Birmingham in 2021. I cannot wait to hear you guys live. For the first of many times. What i am about to say. is not ment to disrespect anyone. Especially Kai. As he is a amazing drummer. But for me personally. Jukka will always be the. Beating heart of Nightwish. I love you brother.

One of my favorite drummers of all time. Really inspired me when I heard someone so good playing the same styles that I do. Glad he's feeling better, but I really do miss his touch in the Nightwish sound.
Nightwish is truly blessed with awesome and superbly extraordinary musicians in all positions. And together they make the whole more than the sum of its parts. So wonderful. Kai is great, and still Jukka will stay in a special spot in my heart.

Schwer bis unmöglich ihn wirklich zu ersetzen meiner Meinung nach. Frag mich langsam was Tuomas mit seinen Leuten macht das die ihm alle weglaufen. "Jukka's last show", that hits hard. Insomnia is a realy hard condition. To bad such a great drummer can't get back on stage. But I also want to mention Jukka's dedication with the band, when he felt he couldn't give that was required for being Nightwish' drummer, he found exellent replacement.
Jukka is the man who took me to the drums. 15 years ago, I grabbed my first pair of sticks with a crazy idea that I would play with Jukka one day. Not happened yet and will probably never happen, but hey, let's dream of it ! He's not the fastest, not the most technical, but he plays with so much passion you can really feel it. And each time I play a Nightwish song, i'm seeing him with power, emotion, passion, and keeps me trying to be better at drums, day after day. So, for everything, Jukka, thank you. Thank you for all theses masterpieces, thank you for your work, thank you for your pirate head, thank you for your influence on my life ! I hope you are well in your life right now and for the future !

He always reminded me of "Animal" from the Muppets. Jukka was one of the most charismatic "showman" drummers I've seen!

Damn so sad to hear Jukka retired, he was a legend and always gave a good show with his "Duracell" drumming. You will be missed mate, but Kai is doing a good job filling that impossible place. Love Nightwish and been following since 1996, keep up the good work and wish for Jukka to stay healthy

One of my favorite drummers of all time. Really inspired me when I heard someone so good playing the same styles that I do. Glad he's feeling better, but I really do miss his touch in the Nightwish sound.

Dürfte wohl kaum einen Drummer geben der dermaßen perfekt auf den Punkt gespielt hat, vom Timing macht Juka sogar der Atomuhr in Brüssel Konkurrenz. Schwer bis unmöglich ihn wirklich zu ersetzen meiner Meinung nach. Frag mich langsam was Tuomas mit seinen Leuten macht das die ihm alle weglaufen. Erst Tarja, dann Juka und jetzt Marko, Anne nicht zu vergessen. Bin gespannt wer als nächstes geht.

"Jukka's last show", that hits hard. Insomnia is a realy hard condition. To bad such a great drummer can't get back on stage. But I also want to mention Jukka's dedication with the band, when he felt he couldn't give that was required for being Nightwish' drummer, he found exellent replacement.
Jukka is the man who took me to the drums. 15 years ago, I grabbed my first pair of sticks with a crazy idea that I would play with Jukka one day. Not happened yet and will probably never happen, but hey, let's dream of it !
He's not the fastest, not the most technical, but he plays with so much passion you can really feel it. And each time I play a Nightwish song, i'm seeing him with power, emotion, passion, and keeps me trying to be better at drums, day after day.
So, for everything, Jukka, thank you. Thank you for all theses masterpieces, thank you for your work, thank you for your pirate head, thank you for your influence on my life ! I hope you are well in your life right now and for the future !
