Since it has a dial, making light level adjustment easy, I think it should also have a lower setting. Somewhere between 15 to 50 lumens. Then it would also be practical for in house use and would have really long run times for emergency use. I like that it can switch from flood to spot. If I get one, one justification would be its use as a powerbank. Besides I need a C to C cord. I can see it now, "What's that?" "It's my powerbank and it comes with a built-in light too." LOL Thanks for the video Tim.
@@johnalessi6004 - Good information, because that is NOT optimal if it's only five minutes... However, the heat at that point is likely going to be pretty noticeable.
@@NeverMetTheGuy only if your using it at full power, that’s a hell of a lot of light. I’m not getting it for that reason. I’m getting it so I can run a 2 or 3000 lumens and have a large battery for longevity between charges. That plus the spot/flood feature is a win for me. You always have those high levels for emergencies. Kinda like having a truck with a big engine. It’ll do a lot if you need but can also be practical. You don’t always have to floor it lol
For a large area, i think imalent r90t is more suitable to do the jobs compare to this olight ugly square thrower beam.. they use magnify lens for the throw mode and give a square beam effects like a cheapo zoomie flashlight. many more way to make it as a thrower but olight choose to go this way.
A very useful and good review. I've recently ordered one of these in the blue colour. I would have liked to see a little bit of extra light spill with regards to the spotlight beam. Even if only to make walking with the lamp, outside, a little more secure. I'm a clumsy sod and so would like to see where I'm going. However, other than that I can't wait for my one to be delivered. Keep up the good work.
Not a bad light, although very bright, I don't like the square shape spot , to bad you can't combine the spot and flood together. Thanks enjoyed the video.
The spot feature is perfect for hunting for Spongebob Square Pants! Couldn’t figure out why it would be shaped like that? But I realized it’s perfect for a beam down to Bikini Bottom 😁
I've had mine for a few days, and love it. The only things I would want changed about it are more color options like maybe black with dark blue, red, gunmetal or forest green would be nice and would live to a see a 3rd gen model with graphene batteries in the future.
you all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know a method to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Keaton Nixon Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I would like to see the light intensity wheel operated with gloves. In cold weather country that would be a major concern. If its to be used as a search & rescue light in cold weather, searchers will wear gloves. If you are going to use it as an expensive toy then it doesnt really matter.
Nice vid, can't wait to get one. Although I can't really understand why the different UI. I understand the need for the toggle for spot/flood. But the UI on the Baton series and M2R Pro Warrior is perfect.
great video but an idea of how big the spot is at a known distance would have been really helpful. For example, is it a 20’ spot at 100 yards or 5’. Hats off to olight for innovation on this one
I came to comments section looking for same answer (how large is the spot at given distances like 25/50/100 yards or meters), or the beam angle for us to do math per our distance interest. Answer to OP, or timestamp in video, would have been a nice reply for your audience taking the time to comment (food for thought ... ;-) Watching video, too many times a commerical advertisment interrupts the video potentially loosing viewer content. Just came in but for some reason I can’t figure out how to attach the lanyard lol. I know there’s a flip up on the flashlight, but I still am striking out.
Just gotta pinch the tip of the rounded end and slip it through, then place the other end of the lanyard through the inside of the rounded end on the other side and tighten. Took me 20 minutes to figure out the rounded end could fit through that hole lol
Boat light. Out in Tampa Bay or coming back in through some of the inlets, keys, and channels late at night or early in the morning, it's good to have someone be able to spot the markers that show up on the plotter (mostly so you don't run into them, but also to make sure you are in the channel). They typically have a reflective metal sign at the top of a wood pile that you can pick up with a decent flashlight from hundreds of feet away. Being able to see them more clearly from a greater distance might be worth the money. Traditional spotlights are okay, a good 800 to 2,000 lumen LED flashlight or spotter is better. This would be fantastic. So...boat light.
Thats what im been thinking asweel.. so ugly square beam.. with that price range better off getting imalent r90t.. the more balance thrower and floodier lights.. it can reach more than 1km asweel. what happen to this new olight design now , the designer is out of their mind ?
@@harisyoung4110 I recently tested two nice throwers, the Amutorch TC500 and the Acebeam L17: th-cam.com/video/XsU5in72HCo/w-d-xo.html They not only reach far but have great hotspots, like stagelights. I agree. It's a sign of a cheap flashlight. It renders the beam unusable with no halo to see surrounding objects. I was going to buy this light until I saw the square beam. You can buy a $20 flashlight on Amazon with the same beam pattern. Zero thought was put onto the thrower side of this light.
Five minutes on turbo running on a built in battery? Seems like you gonna be using the step down modes if you goin back country. Better bring a back up light.
I don't know Tim, it's all right but I see a few things that could have done differently. For one just a 5,000 milliamp battery? For two I don't understand why you cannot use the spot and flood at the same time,
5,000 mah just doesn’t sound like enough battery power for such a large Light with such high output. My Olight seeker 2 is only 3200 lumen and has the same 5000mah battery. And with that one you can carry extra batteries and swap them out. With the size of the marauder they could fit 3 - 21700 batteries giving you 15,000 mah. Now that sounds perfect. This is the main reason i avoided the original marauder x7 and x9. Even though both seem amazing and I love Olight products. Maybe I’m wrong though and this is just hyper efficient but even if it is, why not pack more power since they certainly could. My little handheld vaporizer holds 2 - 21700’s. It’s tiny compared to this light and has up to 10,000 mah with certain batteries. Minimum 8,000
Your backyard is to dawn small for this light. It’s not rubberized it’s silicone on the handle. Still like the video do 😎 I also have the XR9 25000lm is awesome but for hiking a little big but this one with the features like sensing objects in front reducing output not to burn it and the lockout after 30 seconds including the easy rotary access....just would wish it had a dimm function like 1-14000 like most of my lights from Nocticon 😎
Knowing Olight they'll release a Marauder 2 Pro with better specs in a couple of months making you regret the initial purchase. If you have a look at their products they seem to do that with most of their lights adding a pro or an upgraded version down the line.
Step down starts as soon as it is on Turbo. In less than 5min, it will reduce to only 23% of its original output. This came from the manufacturer spec, so I expect real world use would be worse. No thanks for me.
Currently advertised as staying at 14k lumens for 3 hrs 10 mins this can't be correct can it surely it would overheat or explode or melt lense or something When you say it drops after 5 mins to what lumen ? From 14k When did you purchase this is it at all possible they have changed something and it can hold 14k lumens for 3 hrs
That ugly square light is really deal breaker for me, many more way to make it throwier but why olight still choose to use magnify lens like the cheaps zoomie light..
The heat buildup is crazy with 14,000 lumens 5mins burn time before stepdown is actually nice. I was expecting 2-3 min. Keep in mind, it's thermally regulated, so once the temp cools down after 5 straight mins on turbo, it will go back to turbo until it reaches a certain temperature threshold, and so on.
