- Wonderful Tonight Guitar Lesson Beginner Version ✅ Buy Lauren’s Guitar Course - laurenbatemanguitar.com/courseyt - Welcome to my Wonderful Tonight guitar tutorial for beginners. I love this Eric Clapton song because it’s a very slow and easy going song. This means it gives you plenty of time to focus on your chord changes and keeping time with your strumming.
In this guitar lesson, I will be going over a couple Wonderful Tonight guitar strumming patterns that are easier for beginner players just getting started with the guitar. Since this is one of the first songs I reach in my 7 Level Guitar System, we are going to keep it simple. You can play along with me at the end of the lesson to see how well you have grasped the materials.
At the end, I also add in a little walkdown that you can play on Wonderful Tonight to spice things up a bit if you are up for the challenge.

I like how you said it was easy and you said it's only has g c d em and I got freak out😂
That's 4 chords
Im an old timer 'beginner' Lauren here in the UK. I bought my first steel strung folk guitar in 1983 yep a long time ago, but I gave up as I wasn't properly committed at age 25. So in 1985 I returned to the classical guitar this time with a few formal lessons, then again more recently when I bought another guitar ( an acoustic cut away Ibanez - a lovely thing) a couple years ago, as a present to me when I finally retired from my 9-5 job. I have to say as an 'older learner' I find you method of teaching really understandable for me because I was thinking I was just plain slow or even dim musically, my fingers dont always do what I want but I love the way you teach time and strum patterns together. I really appreciate your fret hand close ups....of all the teachers on line I find it really easy to comprehend the way you teach. Well done, I am hooked again YAY....and I am subscribed to your channel for sure ! Thankyou.
Brian, thank you for subscribing. So happy to have you watching the channel and learning from the lesson. Also, congratulations on your retirement! If you are looking for my blueprint to learning the guitar, definitely check out my 7 Level Guitar System: www.laurenbatemanguitar.com/courseyt
Has all the exercises you need, print outs, play along lessons, etc. Would love to help you get that guitar singing.
She takes her time to show you how to play fantastic teacher
Thank you so much!
Lauren, you are by far THE best TH-cam guitar teacher I've watched so far. You take everything step by step in easy to understand "chunks" that makes it very easy for a beginner (like me) to understand. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us!
Aww thank you so much!
And you look beautiful tonight.... 🎶
Thank you, thank you very much
Teach.... 🍎
Thank you Zayne!!!

i think im in love! But it's almost 11pm right now and i can't wait till morning when Tom Lee Music will open to grab a new guitar.
Rock on!!!!!
Now that i have my guitar, the question is how i am going to use it or perhaps the right question is, how can i register to an online course. 🤭
Hi Lauren just to say this 75 year old novice really enjoys what you do so expertly, my first ever post reply, just a relative novice but I am blessed to be able to learn, cant get out much but my new found learning the guitar is so helpful. Big thanks, hope you get this message, keep on and teaching us "oldies" as well as your many younger followers. Great joy. Archie.
Aww thanks for commenting Archie. So happy to be helping you.
An Eric Clapton classic, and easy to learn with your beginners version with only
4 chords.
Thanks for another great lesson Lauren.
Allan you’re so welcome!
and the solo is easy too! One of Clapton's easiest solos! The called him Slowhand for a reason.
Hi Lauren, my wife and I used to see EC when he was in Cream when he played our local youth club. Been a fan for over 50 years, never thought I'd be able to play one of his numbers, until now. Your video lessons are great. Thank you.
Doug, so happy to help. This certainly is a rewarding song for sure.
You're a really good teacher. I've been looking for an online course to use after I complete my community class starting in January and all the ones out there just seem like hype but watching your videos, I feel like not only can you play but you really can teach, breaking everything down for us beginners.
Glad you enjoyed the lesson!
@@LaurenBateman thanks. I'm planning on purchasing your beginner course once I finish the class. I do have one question. it says we get access to you for 1 year, is that just you or do you just get access to the course for 1 year as well. I'm assuming it's just you but I'd rather ask and be clear about it.
There are so many positive things to say about you and you videos I don't know where to begin. I took person to person lessons for awhile and felt cheated. In just a few minutes of your videos and not only did learn something you have reinspired me and I am sure many others . Thank you Donny
Oh wow Donny! I'm sorry your in person lessons didn't work so well but I'm so glad to help. You should check out my course:

I am a beginner,I'm a Filipino,I'm 52 yrs old,and I have a twisted ring finger, but the way you teach,I can get it easyly, constant practice I can make it clean, thank you Lauren
You got this!
20 years ago, my ex wife and I would go to this bar in Buchanan dam and we would dance to this at least once every time
Aww that's a great memory.
Once again thank you Lauren for being the great teacher that you are
You are so welcome!
Dear Lauren
Thank you very much for your teaching. It´s great und you do it in a very special way so that´s possible to follow the examples. Lauren you are a great teacher!
And this is a very nice tutorial! I never had a teacher so I started to play alone with songbooks and youtube. But your lessons make me get better because you explain the rythm and now i beginn to feel the music (sometimes without counting 1 2 3 4). Thank you so much again - and the best wishes from Austria.
You're so welcome. So happy to help.
I really like the skipping The second strum pattern. I can follow that much better!!
Cool, thanks!
Hi Lauren.
Thank U again.
It has been one of my most favourite songs. And I practiced it, the first song ever, on guitar, today.
Sometimes, the exhilaration is so much that I'm word stuck to express how I feel about the entire experience, which involves the 🎸, U, the song, your teaching, my learning & practice. And at last the miracle of me playing the song which, once upon a time, I used to consider it as a sheer fantasy. 🙏🙏🙏
Rock on!
Gotta tell you Lauren preferred you singing the riff, MAGIC lol. Love the walkdown and as always you rock. regards Andrew
LOL thanks. Ha ha.
Wonderful song. Wonderful teacher. Thanks for another great lesson, Lauren.

You're so welcome :)
I learn how to play a song a long time ago I'm 61 started playing when I was I don't know 10 or 11 learned my first three chords which was gcd and then I laid it down and quit until the 80s take to back up then end up buying it back down and then in the 90s I really started getting back into it a lot and I'm still doing it now I'm taking guitar lessons but you know I know g c d e a d e a b a b minor you know GG and F sharp you know bar chord Style but on wonderful tonight I've learned how to play that song I'm still trying to learn how to play the lead part to it but I've got a well the way I do it is I finger pick it and I've been told by several people that heard me play really enjoy hearing me play it because they say it it's like it comes from my heart heart
Aww, I bet it sounds lovely.
Lauren, Thanks for posting. It seems easy enough and would sound great on an electric :) I'm one of your students :)
Hi Chris! Yes it would sound great on an electric
The electric would have to be a Black Strat.
@@Barbarapape Haha...like Eric's "Blackie." I play it on a Butterscotch Blonde telecaster. :)
@@mmccartney6579 I play it on a Candy Apple Red Strat, it's a great
classic tune that sounds good on any electric guitar.
@@Barbarapape You said it, mate! Cheers! :)
Support this, this is a very awesome way to actually know that women need to be to find interest in creating something to know that they valued to as well as men are struggling and are looking for ways to find better jobs and not looking at one option or idea only, so yeah thanks for making this video, this encourage those who think that are not worthy of proving and exercise the power of choice, a chance to choose ❤️❤️❤️💯💪 much love. Edward that's awesome. This is a great practice song.

Thank you!
Another informative Lesson as always, you know there’s a D over an F sharp, however you did this vid for beginners. Hi Lauren, I went out to your Live feed on Wednesday and not for nothing, I pegged you to be ten years younger than me, but after you stated your age, you’re actually eighteen younger, I’m fifty six, so you don’t have to do the math, LOL!
I find it quite difficult to manage the live feed functions so I stayed out there for a half an hour. Had to take off, but listened to the rest of it from the fifty one minutes you were out there. You said you really don’t do R and B Jazz Chords and I have to say, if you had some of those chords in your repertoire, you would have to admit, you would be considered a somewhat complete player.
I know you stated in an earlier video, you took up some classical Guitar, which is cool. The only reason I’m out here is because I know you’ll respond as opposed to the live feed.anyway, don’t want to take up too much of your time just want to give out some requests...
I’m still waiting patiently for, Here There and Everywhere, by you know who. Please when you can, do tutorials on Shania Twain/You’re still the one, Missy Higgins/Where I Stood. Oh, by the way, you said when you do your next live feed you’d play one of your songs. Lauren, can you play my song? As I told you a long time ago, it’s the best song on the whole album and that’s just my opinion. Please do Falling away from you, that song you have to admit Rocks, you even put it out at the end of every video for Guitar for beginners like four years ago, that’s how I discovered you...
Good Health and be safe Lauren, you ROCK!
Yep, beginner video. Keep it simple. Even the walkdown can be tonight for beginners.
My favorite Utube teacher, Thanks Lauren.
Aww thanks!
Thank you Lauren , it's amazing how simple you made it. Bravo Bravo.

Hi from southern Spain, loving your lessons Lauren, the walk down was really cool, I’m looking forward to getting a black Lag Tramontane 118 for my sixtieth
Cool! Hello Spain!
Just subscribed, I like the way you talk about measures., how or when to count in to sing, it makes lot of sense to learn this way. Keep up the good stuff!
Tony, well I'm so glad you enjoy my lesson. Hopefully you will watch and enjoy a lot more!
Lauren you’re AMAZING. Thank you for what you do!
You're so welcome!
Ty 🙏
You're welcome!!!
Great Clapton tune! I have watched you, Marty and Andy. Everyone teaches it a little different.
Yeah, every teacher has their own style. 😊 Thanks for catching mine.
Lauren, first one of your vids I have seen, excellent lesson for us " more mature" students, thank you so much. Might I suggest adding a full run through of the song with what you have shown so that the less musical i.e me, know where to put each piece, chords, walkdown, lick that might make having a full piece a little quicker. But all up great, you haven't seen the last of me.Thank you
Thanks for the suggestion. Will keep it mind for future videos :D
Nice lesson. 👍
Thanks! 😃
