  • We scramble to get our LR3 ready for a weekend road trip over the Sierra's. But we run into several challenges while install Lucky 8 bump stop extensions, Rhino lift rods, limit straps, Arnott air struts, and Yokohama Mud Terrain tires. Our Arnott struts end up leaking air, so we see how good the Arnott lifetime warranty is. We also compare the sound decimals between street tires and the m/t tires.

You can get a service kit for the valve blocks. Most likely a front valve block leak. Chances that both front shocks are done at the same time is slim.

I agree the likely hood is low, but we did rebuild both front & rear valve blocks which did help.

Just after your reply, my LR3 was on bump stops. Couldn't believe it.
Found a leak on the front valveblock inlet - looks like the plastic threads were damaged. Solved with some Teflon tape, but problem persisted.
Could hear a hissing sound from the driver side strut so doused it with soapy water. Seems the strut is leaking. Bought a pair of slightly used Arnots for $100 (no warrantee, but apparently they will service them if needed). Hoping to get them fitted soon.

What’s size of rims and tires you have on . Greetings from Edmonton , Canada!

18" rims. Tire's are Yokohama Geolander M/T's 275/65/18. I have good memories of Edmonton when I visited there almost 30 years ago, I'm sure it's changed quite a bit. I'll actually be Calgary next week. Thanks for watching!

Is this the one that was giving you the combustion leak?? Have you sorted that out?

No, that is the 2006 LR3. As we were planning on replacing the head gaskets and transmission shift solenoids, this 2005 came up that we couldn’t pass up. Much better condition with more features that we were looking for. We are planning to sell the 2006, if it doesn’t sell then eventually we’ll fix it.

How do ypu like the XTool diagnostic tool? Can it reset transmission adaptations like the GAPtool? Thanks!

I like the XTool so far, yes you can reset the transmission adaptations with it. So far it's been able to do everything my Autel does plus stay up to date. I just used it to program a new key on my daughters LR4.

@@mountainviewsgarage nice! I'm asking because I just got an LR3 recently and gonna get my hands on the Xtool too, only because I have other vehicles! Didn't want to pay for the GAPid tool that is just Land Rover specific. I hope to do the transmission fluid change when I get the Xtool and the ATF in. If you can make a video on how to use the xtool to reset the transmission adaptations I'd really appreciate it!

Great to hear. Definitely will do, my sons LR3 is coming up on 200,000 miles and we are going to be doing all the fluids on it so we'll try to detail that as well.
