- In Qing Dynasty, especially since Emperor Qianlong’s reign, the harem system was strict and organized. There were one empress and 7 ranks of concubines. What were their differences?

people tend to think that these ladies lived by themselves within their assigned palace, but those palaces had apartments and these ladies lived with each other. So could see 6 maids for one lady, but 2 maids for another in the same palace.
Thank you for this video. I'd love a really long break down about harem rules and how life was for the world in it. In show i see the romantic version but I'd like to know how it really was!
I love watching Chinese dramas about concubines. They seem to have everything regulated.
Thank you for this video. I really love to learn more. Even tho I feel disgusted by these old practices against women (not only the ones in China, but around the world). It's important to learn
Actually, this is the palace maids according to ranks:
Empress- 10 palace maids
Imperial Noble Consort- 8 palace maids
Noble Consort- 8 palace maids
Consort- 6 palace maids
Concubine- 6 palace maids
Noble Lady- 4 palace maids
First Class Attendant- 3 palace maids
Second Class Attendant- 2 palace maids
Excellent video, thank you.
Actually, Qing dynasty concubine rank system is the most efficient than other dynasty, and also preserve traditionally in chinese not like other dynasty system which is burried by time and forgotten.
True
Qing dynasty harem system is much more simpler yet more effective than other dynasty.

I have an question...so let's think someone is a noble consort. So she gets 8 maids. But are those really 8 maids or 8 main maids with a lot of low maids? Because in these i have seen more than 20 maids for even a consort. I am confused.
I do think there was a lot of Palace worker. But they each have their own duties, right? However, 8 maids cannot handle one palace, they need help from palace workers. But this 8 maids r different. They take care of their mistress's affairs instead of doing regular work at the palace, the maids of the Noble Consort are her people
@@wersagikartopawiro7078 oh I got it now. Thank you so much 🙏
One thing that differentiates them, I guess. Only maids who had obtained the position of lady in waiting could serve the emperor's wife, they were slightly higher in rank than palace workers @@Faceon6790
8 permanent maids (lady’s maids, eunuchs, housekeeper, house maids, cooks, etc.) and extra maids to do other tasks like cleaning and gardening
