Though I do like Dre's bass guitar better, you have amazing ear man. I am a recording engineer, and I find it fascinating how people can recreate intricate work of others, understanding what each sound is, and how to mimic it.

No but I should make one. There is so much more technology now to make thigns much easier. The best place to start is a laptop and some software like fl studio. the software is free and you can go from there.
The lead synth part is just a G minor scale. The minor modes are Phrygian that has a flat 2nd and Locrian with flat 2nd and 5th...and most common, the Dorian which is a minor scale with a raised 6th.

Did yall know EM wrote this before the beat had been made? I seen something where Dre said it's one of the only times where the song was written before he had come up with a beat. And obviously EM wrote the majority of the song including Dres parts but anyone who follows Dre knows he is more bout the beats than lyrics lol

What software do you use and where do you get samples? I have FL Studio, but I feel like the good plug ins and samples can nickle and dime one to death.
