Really good advice. My only thing to add is you can get good cash back deals simply by using a cash rewards credit card for purchases. But ONLY use a credit card if you can pay off your balance in full each month! Happy hunting!

I haven't really made any mistakes collecting I started over covid I already had a goal before I even started which was to complete the Pokedex binder but I also have other goals like to collect all Pig Pokemon cards I've now been collecting for 3 years and I've only opened a total of 10 packs I mostly get all my cards used at my local Game Exchange I do believe that opening packs is fun getting all the cards you need second hand is definitely the way to go

I basically did every single one of these mistakes when I got back into the hobby last year, learned the hard way. Keep sealed sealed and buy singles, that’s my advice.

Quality over quantity is my collection approach. I’d rather have 1 card that is iconic, very rare, valued pretty high, highly sought after, vs. having a binder full of bulk v, full arts, EXs, over printed modern IRs, etc.

“Everywhere” is quite an exaggeration. You can’t believe everything you hear on TH-cam. I’m on there all the time, and there are plenty of good sellers. Plus, I generally don’t recommend buying into live breaks anyway - as I mentioned, I buy singles on there.
