I recently retired from 26 years of teaching in the largest school district in Georgia and CRT doesn't exist in the public schools. We are too busy trying to get them to read, write, and do math on grade level. Never had any drag queen story hours either.
I had to explain that to my parents.
As long as the loonies like her believe it that's all she needs. Proving them wrong with facts somehow doesn't even work, they just plug their ears. I don't know what the solution here is, but I worry we're running out of time as a nation.
Not quite as representative but with my siblings and cousins I know five people who in the last 20 years went or are still going to several different schools. Some of us even changed schools for various reasons. I've never even heard of CRT or drag queen story hours before listening to republicans.
That's one of the frustrating parts about their perpetual "no true Scotsman" defense every time another teammate gets in scalding water. Unless they're all doing the crime (which is almost certainly not that rare), clearly it must have been an undercover radical communist antifa nazi. But for anything they think is gross, or are ashamedly aroused by, they usually take things that genuinely have no ulterior motives (something like latching onto drag queens reading children's stories to children in a public library with the parents usually in attendance), and then demand that their fucked up, deranged, dystopian fantasies represent the entire group of people. We need to hit a tipping point where this embarrassing plummet into idiocracy stops being given exhaustive control over any narrative about literally anything.
Just so fucking tired of essentially having to explain to them over and over again that just because their shit is brown, it's still not chocolate; and just repeating it over and over without ever once thinking to maybe find out themselves. They need to begin reaping the rot they've sown, or dolts shrieking buzzwords will continue to steer us towards the edge of a cliff, as we just shake our heads in response to the looming existential crisis. It's only slightly irksome.
I coached high school softball. To fund the team we often helped the girls run concession stands. These girls couldn’t make basic change. None of them. The schools are struggling to teach these kids the basics. Good luck with crt.

As a child of the 1950s, with a mother who taught elementary school and a journalist father, and who marched for Civil Rights myself as a teen, these people sound just so CRAZY to me.
(and since I know some people will make assumptions: I’m as white as possible. My mother’s parents immigrated from Yorkshire, England in the 1920s, and all of my father’s grandparents immigrated from Denmark. I just got off the phone with the head librarian in my town. Volunteers, including drag queens, do not get paid to read to children during story hour. That’s why they’re called volunteers. The only people who get paid to read during story hour, are the library staff who all have masters degrees.
