Eggs at my local Kroger are 2.99doz. Down a dollar from a few weeks ago.
Eggs are also more expensive because of bird flu. Coffee is more expensive because it's a product of mother nature and weather has been too dry for coffee growth. But those facts are not comvenient.
They are 1.19 a dozen at food Lion .

There are a few stores we check in the area at the beginning of each week to make sure we have the lowest price (edit: or get as close as corporate is comfortable with) on about 10-15 basic goods in a few mile radius.

A chicken farm in Utah burned up and there were over a hundred thousand chickens lost. It didn't mean squat in relation to the price of eggs there. And that's because they were all over producing.

Mortgage rates and housing prices out of control, grocery prices and gas prices out of control, cost of living through the roof. It wasn’t that way from 2016 until 2020. It just wasn’t.

You’re totally right. It takes someone to actually look at the underlying data yourself or by reading the many articles / watching the videos on this topic to actually know this, which unfortunately the two replies to your comment don’t seem to have done. Instead they focus on who was POTUS and think they can make definite conclusions solely based on that, which has absolutely nothing to do with the price gouging which hasn’t started just four years ago or even 8 years ago, it just has gotten much worse because these companies have used the pandemic as an excuse to take it to more extreme levels.
What should matter in my opinion is who is offering the better solution for the future. One candidate is offering more tax cuts for wealthy individuals and corporations, which will do nothing to lower consumer prices, and the other is proposing to extend the controls the government has to help to better prevent these companies from extorting consumers with much higher prices during extreme situations like a pandemic.
Neither one addresses the root core of the problem, way too much market power in the hands of just a few companies due to flawed & bad economical and regurlatory policies going back decades, but one proposal is clearly better the other one. The FTC under Biden btw is trying to address the root cause by investigating some of these companies and taking them to court, because they are likely violating the very loose regulations already in place. And this work needs to be continued and we need a House & Senate majority together with the WH to identify & close the loopholes and areas where regulation needs to be strengthened to protect everyday people from being extorted by these companies. One party has basically across the board no interest to continue this work, they even have a plan to make it even worse for consumers which includes a flat sales tax to replace other taxes that would only benefit the wealthy, and the other party has at least some members that have shown a willingness to address the root cause of this problem. Again, neither response is great but one is clearly better than the other one.

Here's a simple fact check for Boebert. Inflation rocketed to 9.1% because of Trump mishandling the pandemic. Inflation affected the entire globe not just America. Boebert should focus on facts instead of hand jobs.

I had a congressional candidate tell a group that he was visiting (including me) that the cost of milk is way up. Milk down the street from me at Walmart is $2.12 a gallon. This congressional candidate by the way grew up with a silver spoon, went to private schools and then went to an ivy League college. Probably doesn't go shopping himself at all.$2.12 for a gallon of milk is actually less expensive comparatively speaking than it was 10 years ago 20 years ago and even 30 years ago. When groceries go up you change your buying habits. I used to buy pretzels that were about $3 a bag and now if not on sale they are $4 a bag. That turned me to the store brand which I found out was equally as good and perpetually on sale for $1.50 a bag. I now actually pay 50% for pretzels because I was paying $3 a bag a couple years ago and now I pay $1.50. I never buy steaks for more than $6 a pound and usually somewhere in the range of $5. I wait until they go on sale I buy a bunch I vacuum seal them and put them in my freezer. The highest I've paid for boneless skinless chicken breast in the last 3 years is a $1.49 a pound and I've picked up 10 lb at a time for $0.99 at my local grocery store straight from the butcher on sale many times in the last year. If the Ritz crackers are $6 a box, you buy the store brand which might be exactly the same or pretty close for half price or less.

The price of eggs has gone up because of Bird Flu that has wiped out millions of chickens, which means that the supply cannot keep up with the demand and so the price went up. And FYI, a dozen eggs averages $3.20 nationwide, not "7 or 10 dollars". I swear, if the GOP ever told the truth about anything at all I certainly didn't hear it.

There are other things also contributing to inflation. The embargo on Russian oil. oil is used in many manufacturing processes. Around half of inflation is also caused by Corporate price gouging but you will never hear Republicans bite the hand that feeds them and they serve.

Eggs continue to be one of the best food deals there is--which has always been true. The fact is that a handful of large corporations control the food industry.
I have never even SEEN a Costco. That's not a solution for everybody.
The Costco membership fees aren't worth the cost of shopping there for the average person. Multiple people have done the math. Whatever you might be "saving" is being eaten up in the annual membership fees and they make more on the memberships than the sales of food. The only time it makes sense to get a Costco membership is if you are a business but most businesses get their food delivered directly to their loading docks from wholesale outfits rather than do the shopping themselves, which is a completely different supply chain route.
