    I appreciate how short and tight your videos are - some garden channels blather on for 15 minutes with the same amount of info.

    Great explanation. I have both seedlings and two different Cultivars. I hand pollinate between them and enjoy delicious fruit in September! It takes about 4 years for grafted pawpaws to flower and begin to produce fruit, about 6 years for seedlings.

    When switching to your video, I was ready to argue on which is better. Now I don't want to argue. I just want to listen. Thank you for the great information that you've given in the video.

      Hey, I think I saw you on Plant Fanatics' page. It was definitely a video about pawpaws 😊

    I wish more people like you with a proper understanding based in the literature and experience would share videos on TH-cam. Thanks for making this channel and sharing your pawpaw knowledge. I'm at the northern edge of the Carolinian range so getting cultivars is difficult at best, especially with the restrictions on cross-border shipping.

    Excellent video, very informative! I really wished named varieties of pawpaw were available here in the UK, the nurseries here only sell seedling plants. I'm still going to try to grow my plants and hopefully one day be able to try this fruit!

    about 6 years ago I germinated 23 seeds>>>In a laundry basket>>in my closet under a grow light>>>I got 23 trees>>although there is wild pawpaw in the area>>seems like seedlings are popping up EVERYWHERE>>>can not wait to see the flowers>>>>>YOUR TREES LOOK BEAUTIFUL

    Excellent, succinct video, thanks. Perhaps you should have mentioned some of the other drawbacks of cultivars, other than price; such as being less cold hardy, having a shorter lifespan and whose suckers (obviously) will not come true.

    I recall hearing on a Kentucky State University video that cultivars have a 15 year life before you need to replace them. Have you heard of this or have experience with this limitation? I recently planted 2 cultivars, and will supplement with 4 seedlings (from four different varieties to ensure good pollination.)

    Do grow seedling trees get taller then the cultivars and how much taller? I only have cultivars, but maybe I will sow a few from the biggest fruits.

    Is it true that after 15years aerial part of the tree is dying and only roostock survive meaning we are ending up with rootstocks varieties after 15years?

    • @df082399
      @df082399 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if it is true, you could just re graft the tree indefinitely. All you need is a seedling rootstock and scion from your favorite variety and just re grow them all over again.
      So let’s say you have a graft for 10 years or so, that means you should graft a new tree so by the time you’re original tree graft dies the new graft will be beating fruit and you could do this repeatedly.

      You need at least 2 pawpaw trees to get fruit. They are not self-fertile. Buy another that's a cultivar or seedling thereof.
