The very ones who ignored them would be the first to complain if it was them who needed to be rescued. I now live on TN and I can tell you that if you don’t move over you as a driver will regret it! Folks here pull off the road for funeral processions! What a difference location makes! Just saying.
This was an epic situation, I was there on business and you could hear non stop sirens all day into the evening. FDNY sure knows their stuff, cheers to them all and love New Yorkers,
6:55 I think that’s the quickest I’ve ever seen a truck get through an intersection in New York. I don’t think I’ll ever understand what goes through the minds of the people in New York. I’ve seen drivers pull out into the path that fire trucks have cleared and pedestrians will cross the road as if the fire truck isn’t even there.
I agree! It's too bad the fire trucks aren't equipped with super heavy bumpers so they could just push cars out of their way. People are so disrespectful to firemen and firetruck companies. If it were their own house or company that was ablaze, they'd move their balls really quickly to free up space for the fire trucks to get where they're going. If it's not their house or their company, they could care less.

I’m from a small city in Kansas, spent around 42,years living, eating, drinking, sleeping, in police and fire fighting. Our dept was a Public Safety dept, both police and fire under the same roof and cross trained in both. Officers were assigned to a division, some rotated, patrol officers carried fire gear in their patrol cars. Saying that, I just finished a half bottle of Tums watching this video. I can eat fire just as well as most. Started as a cadet at 14, and got out when I was 56. I don’t have a problem driving in traffic, but my god, I swear drivers in NY, are either crazy, stupid or both!! And that’s but the apparatus drivers!! I’m sure I’ll be told their even crazier, but I wasn’t going to say it! No wonder those big buildings are 3rd, 4th, 5th alarm fires, especially during the day like this! Oh mylanta!! I swear I thought half of the units running was going to get a wreck!! I’m thinking the app drivers just close their eyes and the co-pilot says right, left, stop, go, hard right, slow left......etc.!!!!!!!!! Seriously, are many engines involved in wrecks? Or pedestrians? Are many struck accidentally? I saw several jump out and had to stop because the truck was closer than they thought!!! Seriously guys up there in NY, and other large, giant cities that fight traffic like this. You guys are amazing to do this! We are all amazing people, all emergency services! We are all brothers and sisters! But you guys, have a special knack at pulling it off, I take my Cairns off to you!!
Idk what is worse the cab drivers or the bus drivers about getting out of the way or even pedestrians trying to cross directly in front of the fire truck
In all of this - with pedestrians, cyclists, and the feasible motorist not moving when the space is clear - I only hope they're considering what the scenario might be if they, their family, or neighbours were the ones in dire need of the responding services. Be aware and do your duty, please everyone!

I’ve driven with my niece in the city but mostly upper west side where traffic isn’t too bad and than on the expressway to Long Island City. Once you get out of Manhattan it’s not too bad
@03:22 the first piece without a Q. The first piece struggling to get through traffic. Yeah the others may have be an e-2QB but they still have the heart of a Q. Would love to see FDNY just try a mechanical Q with Powercall. I would even settle for double electronic sirens with an e-2QB and Powercall together.
New York needs to just put push bumpers on the front if every emergency response vehicle. I spent over 35 years in a small city, and thought it was bad here, until I started watching emergency responses there. Just push their happy asses out of the way. Maybe then drivers will learn to obey the laws.
one thing i can say that here in southern California people just about make a 90 degree angle when they hear a siren. everyone stops, same with the oncoming lanes.
Interesting how apparatus with a Q gets through almost immediately, while electronic wail and yelp have to stop and clear before proceeding. I'm curious as to what the siren with the low tones are (on the black SUVs responding at 28:10) seems like the low note sounds a minor fifth lower than the principle tone. I imagine it gets more attention, because of the mutated sound. It sounds "off," so it gets your attention more.
The black SUV's are outfitted with a rumbler (most police cars have one too). Due to the lower tone of the rumbler it should be heard better since the high-frequency sirens can get lost in ambient noise (especially in high density urban area's).
it leaves me speechless how less drivers and pedestrians in the US care for emergency vehicles.. the vehicles are packed with lights like christmas trees and nevertheless it seems to take ages till drivers notice them and let them pass ..

There are ambulances with this and additional pressurized air horns. Amazing. Search for Martinshorn and Pressluft.
Soooo what's the Difference between Squad and Engine in New York? I'm from Chicago so "Squad" here means A Rescue Squad Company (equivalent to FDNY Rescue). Is a New York Squad like a Specialized Engine Company or what?
I am not from NY, so correct me if I'm wrong, but a Squad is a mix between a Rescue and an Engine. It does have the ability to pump water and it has rescue equipment but not as heavy as the FDNY Rescue's.

I'd like to punch half of my fellow Manhattanites in the cajones for their blatant disregard for our bravest. trying to get to the job. Need to bring back fire lanes on major avenues and install those green light devices (not sure of the technical term). I've seen it work in other cities. Great video.
They do. Except according to former FDNY Battalion Chief Richard Picciotto (Ex B11), it’s best if you drive those streets like a slalom course
I thought on most FDNY apparatus say "FIRE" in white on the sides and back, not "FDNY". You learn something new everyday
Bernardavus Older ones did. They started changing that with the batch of Seagraves back in 2008
35:05 wth is going on with that siren
1 word Hatzolah
Hi-lo and electronic Q.
Aaah, maybe it’s part of the attempt to introduce less annoying sirens.

Those sound comparable to the ones used in some European countries. There are ambulances with this and additional pressurized air horns. Amazing. Search for Martinshorn and Pressluft.
British surplus 🤣
ah
Soooo what's the Difference between Squad and Engine in New York? I'm from Chicago so "Squad" here means A Rescue Squad Company (equivalent to FDNY Rescue). Is a New York Squad like a Specialized Engine Company or what?
I am not from NY, so correct me if I'm wrong, but a Squad is a mix between a Rescue and an Engine. It does have the ability to pump water and it has rescue equipment but not as heavy as the FDNY Rescue's.
@@hutsander If they don't get in first and operate as an engine company, they usually freelance with truck tools.

Sirens and horns just screaming GTFO out of my way
Every day sounds in New York and the blaring horns of taxis
