Thanks for putting this video out there. The 18 model Spyder and some 19 were know to have bad paddle shifters causing them to not shift manually. Hopefully you just saved someone else the trouble of taking it to a dealer to fix it 😎 Ryde safe and God Bless
My wife and I have a trip planed this thursday and we are taking our bikes (shes has a 08 spyder). Yesterday, im checking my bike and hers for our upcoming trip and hers wont shift intermittently. Its on the trailer and we will be checking out this problem this morning (Im in the auto repair business but not the can am fixing business). Thank you for this video. I'll defenitely check for dirt in this switch.
You did a great job putting this video together for people! I would have done the same exact repair but instead of alcohol I use a spray can of electronics parts cleaner. You can spray heavy to clean and it evaporates fast.
Thank You… One would think that since I am a Server & Storage Engineer, that I would have a can of electronics parts cleaner… I guess it’s cause I do all my work over the phone these days…. Realizing others I encounter on the road may face the same issues, I always have the tools to get the job done with me…
@@CountryMan73436 LoL I hear ya! I can't remember the last time I used parts cleaner on a server. Well, maybe if a person has to clean the thermal paste and reseat a CPU. But when I'm out of it, I'm guilty, I will use rubbing alcohol too!
@@CountryMan73436 actually the next day it randomly started working correctly again. Weirdest thing in the world. But I'll still take it apart and clean anyway
Interesting my rtl22 is experiencing certain similar issues. but I did not notice the 'spring loaded balls' to get dirty/stuck. the switches are sealed nano membrane switches. In my case the reverse execute is takes a few seconds to respond. Good review.

Even though these Spyders are outdoor in the environment they do not like being there. You have to take extra precautions riding in the elements and realize there will be a penalty down the road that will haunt you. Another problem is the side saddle bags. The pull levers are connected to the lock mechanism with a cable assembly. These cables are not water proof and they are not assembled with any lubricants/grease. These cables rust/corrode and freeze up and will not allow you to open the boxes. Take this a warning, find a cable lube tool and lube those cables before it’s too late. Same for the frunk and seat release cables that operate from the ignition key switch .

I don’t have this problem but I enjoyed receiving the information. Great job on the video and you earned another new subscriber. 😎👍
great video. Very useful. I am gonna clean my shifter. Again thanks a million!

YW… Did You have this issue? If so did it fix it?
Nice
I had the same problem and the dealership replaced the entire switch gear, under warranty fortunately.

how does this bike hold up in the rain ?
It handles great in the rain & the wind too. No issues.
I suggest using an air compressor, if you have one. Then a can of electronics spray cleaner.
Keep it comming
