September 26, 2018 we were towing our camping trailer down the long road to the west entrance of Death Valley. It was 110* outside and the road went on for ever it seemed. It was the same view with no traffic in front or behind us, a straight road with the mountains in the distance for 30 miles it seemed. I started to see a shape over the roadway, I remember saying to the dearest wife: will you look at this coming towards us (directly over the road and miles in front of us) I think it’s a jet! It waved its wings as it came closer and then as it was just about directly in front of us, it went vertical! The sound was incredible, the sight was a memory never to be forgotten. The markings were the blue and gold of the Blue Angels. Thank you to the pilot of that Blue Angel for the memory, the wife still gets an incredible smile when we bring this topic up. This video had just populated my suggested videos and we both watched it twice!

This is some of the best photography I've personally seen. I shoot airshows myself, but I'm still trying to perfect my art. A little harder to shoot with a slower focusing Nikon D810 and a Nikon 200-500mm lens combo, but that's what I got. I always look forward to your new video galleries.
Thanks mike. Keep On shooting and experimenting with different editing packages. I’m on lightroom now and re editing and improving photos I took with older equipment. Having newer and more advanced equipment is easier but obviously at a cost. Enjoy!!

Had planned to take the toll road to Darwin, but dropped my bike just above the falls parking area, so we came back down and rode to the lookout. Looking forward to getting back there sometime.

Nice! The Raptor at 6:44 has a flag on the instrument panel. Someday, someone will be presented with that flag (probably on retirement) with a certificate that reads something along the lines of: "On ______________, this flag was flown on a combat training mission aboard an F22 through the Jedi Transition, a part of the Sidewinder Low Level Training Complex."

Brilliant images again.. So envious of your visits to the Mach Loop and Death Valley. Really helpful to see the image info. You don't need an elephant gun to shoot aviation. Your panning must be rock steady to catch some of those 'into cockpit' shots. Mark of a true professional.. Nothing easy about such consistent success..

The only privately owned plane in here was the fouga magister at 3:40. I do have another video with a jet marked vampire but that’s a F18 from a sqn within the US Navy.
I wouldn’t rush out there as there’s nothing flying through the canyon these days. As for red flag then you may get the odd flight transiting through whilst returning to base but red flag does not contribute massively to traffic through there. Fingers crossed planes will fly through again one day. It’s at father Crowley overlook

My questions are these: Is this shooting location ron-day-voo in the desert the result of an unspoken and unofficial agreement between these flyboys and the photogs, or is it just part of a pilot's training to yank and bank amongst the boulders and the cactus while a swarm of aviation enthusiasts with digital cameras just happen to camp out and wave to them as they zoom by? Given the pricey per-hour running costs of these sweet machines, someone high up has got to know about and approve these fly-bys, no? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't these planes repeatedly streak by for photo ops as well, the time of which all has to be accounted for? Regardless, thanks for the eye candy and posting the camera settings that show how it happens.
I would love to know your most favorite moment while shooting the the canyon.... I'm sure there are several, but I'd love to know the best or some of the best. I would think the pilots waving or waving their wings would be really cool.

This is a Fouga magister. I believe it was a french plane originally but now privately owned

Thanks Si. The lens it 300 and extended to 420 with the 1.4x teleconverter. The canon mk3 1.4tc is a great bit of kit.
