Senri was my student in Japan when she was 10 years old she studied with the late great Kozo Suganuma and I would come to Japan every year and be the guest teacher. She would show up every week sometimes twice a week with her mom she was like 9 or 10. Literally!… very quiet didn’t speak much. She had a great little smile lol! and she practiced her ass off! She was in a class which I taught with like four or five older male students and she always kicked their ass. She actually practiced the stuff I showed her. I showed her a little bit of Freddy Gruber technique and some Moeller stuff that I got from Jim CHAPIN and she took to it like a fish to water. glad to see her being successful nowadays.
@@blujay9191 ; yes it is! Thank you for your comment! She was a joy and pleasure to teach always looked forward to coming to japan to teach those guys those students they were great kids, all of them! Plus, I love the Japanese food!
@@nealsausen4651 .. Good for you. I was just the drum teacher at the local mom and pop music store in town some 40 years ago but I do remember one kid that really had it. I have no idea what happened to him but It was great to watch the growth.
His nale is Hiroaki Tagawa. He is self taught and blind. He was only going by the sound, and this was the way he figured out to do it. He said he used this way as using the Koto which he had learned earlier.
I remember this video! I haven’t seen this in years. Senri Kawaguchi is one of my favorite drummers! 😁

She's become one of the really great drummers in the world. It must be gratifying to have taught her and see how far she''s come.
