It is Magnolia x Soulangeana "Black Tulip". Leafs arrive after blooming.

If you have enough cold weather then yes but in the tropics will be quite hard to grow this one unless you're perched up in the mountain somewhere .....

Oh yeah there are black tulips at araluen park not sure where they're from .....
Araluen is near perth western australia :)

Yes, I think so too, because of the form of the flowers! There is no small base of the flower like "Genie" has.

Do you have a winter or cooler season ? If not then probably not but if you live on a mountain like 1000 metres plus then totally :) it depends how tropical your climate is .....

@@dougg1976 yes here we have 2 months of winter season and 1 month for subtropical climate ..but the temperature never gets down below 10 degree Celsius and rest of the time very hot and humid..

Get a tree or a cutting , seeds will take too long , also you need the cold trigger for the seed to germinate , could get tricky .....
