  • This is a test footage from two Dahua cameras based on two different image sensors. Conditions: cloudless, moonless night with subtle haze. Two street lamps in the background are 120 meters from the camera. Christmas lights on the right give enough light to be able to walk on the street without tripping over. The snow on the ground makes the scene brighter, but other thant that it's really dark.

    I'm wondering if these would perform if put the internals in a night vision unit housing adding a small lcd screen?

    Can I get some recommendation for a good dome 5mpx camera? I tried to find one with imx485 but no success.

      Almost all dashcams use outdated tech, both the costly one and the cheap one. The margin they have on some of the costly ones is obscene.

    Is it infrared sensitive? Could I image let's say 700-1700nm with this camera?

    • @wopi82
      @wopi82  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sensor itself is IR sensitive but this camera has a fixed, non removable IR filter, so you won’t be able to see IR. IMX485 is NIR sensitive to about 950nm. The succesor of this sensor, STARVIS2 IMX585 is much more sensitive in NIR range. If you want to sense 700-1700nm wavlengts, you need a SWIR sensor, like IMX990 or IMX991 . Currently not available in any consumer camera to my knowledge.

    Hello! Thanks for the reviews, are there any Dahua cameras on the IMX385 matrix?

    are these new full color cams from andy the new starlight killer? first it was the 2mp, then the 4mp's started kicking arse. love my 5442's.

    • @wopi82
      @wopi82  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, both from Andy :) 4K-X is a Full Color camera. The HFW7842H-Z is an AI camera for LPR.

      @@wopi82 ah that's right, I had the 7442 for lpr but it wasn't close enough to the road to use the full AI lpr functionality. That new color cam looks like it may be worth a shot.

      @@wopi82 Maybe i made a bad decision when ordered 3849H-AS-PV-S4, 4k-1/2.8" sensor camera..... Additonal LED lights could be the solutions for night scenes or manual shutter and aparture settings?
