The greatest memories of the beach have been surf fishing with my family. We bring the kitchen sink. I know that the bite is on off and so we play games on the sand between and have cookouts and what not. It's like the best invite-only party anyone can come hang out at. But when the bite is on, we are all business! Coolers steadily swap drinks for dinks. By the end of the day, your rocky mountains are swimming in scales and everyone is hugging for the future feast of the haul. Stay safe and keep reeling.
So now I know why my local beach fishing has changed. Here in the Southern Outer Banx....they have done some beach restoration. Meaning the equipment used to build up beaches have leveled out and taken away those troughs and sandbar areas that have left the wave patterns uniform in appearance. Only closer to our inlets has the conformity changed. Before the beach restoration efforts in key areas I could Always catch targeted species. However....mother nature is restoring itself and fishing is improving in a few spots.
I recently started surf fishing in Florida. Two weeks ago before the winds picked up I was casting anywhere between breakers using an 8 foot Triumph with a 4000 Penn battle III with a 3/4 oz mullet crank bait. Jacks were hitting it hard.
Indeed they do, ones I was catching I think were juvenile Yellow Jacks, very silver with worm like markings along dorsal. Made my day, but wether you’re hooking fish or not, anytime on the beach is time we’ll spent.

Sorry to see that the restoration efforts messed up the bars. Hopefully they get reformed soon.

Those jacks sure do put up a fight!

Is this south melbourne? Been waiting on this video to come out since you posted the fishing report in the community
Yes. This footage is from that trip 2 to 3 weeks ago.
Capt B "textbook Wikipedia" 🫣 .... did he actually say that. Wikipedia is a trash reference
If that was the biggest flaw of the video, then we'll consider it a success.
